The Great Gatsby: Double Entry Journal Scoring Rubric

Proficient Emerging Beginning

Number of Quotes and In order to achieve a proficient
grade the student must
Responses Written
demonstrate an understanding
of the three quotes presented,
have the corresponding page
numbers with each quote, and
be able to add their own
opinions to their responses.
Developing their own thoughts is
vital to achieve a passing grade.
To achieve this grade the student
must have at least two quotes
with the corresponding page
numbers. They must also show
the being signs of a detailed
analysis in their responses. The
responses must also be at least 4
sentences long.
To get this grade a student will
have shown minimal effort. This
includes having one quote,
utilizing summary, and show no
effort to see the meaning behind
the text. The response will also
be less than three sentences
long. A student receiving this
grade will also have not
referenced with page number
they got their quote from.
