Brief chosen Sunday Morning urban remix – Maroon 5

Facial expression such as anger and happiness will be demonstrated by the two actors in my music
video which will help denote emotions to the audience so they can emphasise with the music video.
Cross-media production target audience: a fun-loving 16–25-year-old mass market demographic. My
genre for my music video is a pop video about love and new beginnings. I will be using Tyreke Lerelle
who will be known as Maroon as my chosen solo artist for my music video. I choose Maroon 5s song
due to the band's popularity and music being evidently widespread within the music industry.
Moreover, this age group will relate most towards the music video as it is about relationships,
moving on, empowering yourself and finding your inner strength to succeed in life. For example,
going off to uni, buying a new house, starting work and getting into a relationship. It will be aimed
towards both male and female, different social groups and all races. Representations in my music
video will be shown in many ways. The vintage filter will give a sense of warmth while using
contrasting tones such as blue to express the emotion and the happy/melancholy scenes in the
video. Intertextuality will be used such as “ The great Gatsby” , “ 500 days of summer “ , the yellow ,
cinematic subtitles from the French movie “ Amelie” , the same place will be filmed where it is also
shown in Sam Smiths music video “ too good for goodbyes”. Information of the artist, lifestyle ,
album and merch will be displayed via social media platforms such as Instagram and twitter which
will be age appropriate for young adults from the age of 16 , Graphics will be used such as social
media screenshots put onto my website and aesthetic pictures to show the mis-en-scene. My solo
artist name logo will be kept simple with the colour white while having a maroon background colour
on my website. This goes together with the whole website setting(urban/nature). To do this I am
going to research on types of logos and colours that are aimed at my target audience to inspire me.
Lastly, I intend to fade out the audio of my music video at the end to give a sense of the fact that all
is left is a new beginning and a new set of memories/chapter. This is shown through the last little clip
of “Maroon “with no emotion.

How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and
understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production? (100)

I intend to use the artists motif of sunglasses and an edgy fashion look shown on my music video
and on my website to link it to urban street fashion. Graphics will be used such as social media
screenshots taken from the external link of Instagram and will be put onto my website to show fan
participation and audience involvement. The intertextuality from my music video will also be linked
to pictures shown on my website to emphasise the meaning of Maroons latest album/song. For
example I will intend to link the movie “The Great Gatsby” to my music video by including the book
and a scene from it which emphasises the whole story line of moving on from memories and
someone who does not love you anymore. The Great Gatsby book will also be shown on my website
where I intend to create a grainy filtered picture of the book itself. Pictures will be shown on the
gallery via my website where they can be viewed by the audience and show them behind the scene
captures of the video. Sony music entertainment is directly owned by Sony cooperation from the
USA. It includes a broad array of both local artists and international superstars. I will intend to link a
button which will take the audience directly to the Sony website. In addition, I will also be linking a
button to an external link which takes the audience directly to Instagram where they can be included
in fan participation for my solo artist Maroon.
