Line Charge System
PURPOSE AND DESIGN
The ZB−WŁWD/Z launcher is designed for clear−
ing passages in minefields by explosion using a
line charge towed by rocket which is fired from
launcher−container.
It can also be used successfully for other appli−
cations as:
− widening of already existing passages in
minefields
− breaching some engineering barriers or
destroy them, e.g. concertina wire fields
− crushing ice in frozen rivers
− performing other works which require long
explosive charges
A mine clearing line charge system consists of
the following subassemblies:
− launcher−container
− line charge ŁWD−110/5000 consisting of:
− rocket engine
− bundle of five strands of elastic line charges
made of explosive of total weight about 550 kg
− braking / leveling strings.

OPERATION
The mine clearing line charge launcher is cha−
racterized by reliable action, short combat
preparing time and safe handling. Its design and
construction allows easy transport even in diffi−
cult terrain and long storage. The line charge
launcher can be mounted on various carriers
such as MBT, APC, trailers or landing crafts.
One mine clearing vehicle usually carries two
launchers. Mine clearing with use of ZB−
WŁWD/Z system is fastest way to cross mine−
fields by mechanized units. For precise mine
clearing of wide area it is recommended to use
additional mine sweepers. The line charge
launcher can be protected from fragments and
small caliber projectiles by shields. Operating of
the line charge is controlled by an electric firing
unit. Integral part of that unit is an additional fire
warning system for launcher protection.
Checking the firing subassemblies and circuits
is realized with electric tester.
PACKING, STORAGE AND TRANSPORT
The mine clearing line charge launcher ZB−
WŁWD/Z is stored and transported in its trans−
port frame. The launcher should be stored with
a good air conditioning at temperature of 263K
to 303K and a relative humidity up to 85%. The
launchers can be stacked maximum three in
height. The line charge launchers in transport
packages can be carried (not stacked) by truck
or railway. Launcher needs protection from
mechanical damage and atmospheric precipita−
tion during transport.
GUARANTEE
The guarantee period for stored mine clearing
line charge system is 5 years.
The ZB−WŁWD/Z system’s lifetime is 15 years.
