Introduction
Articulated supports of radial gate are installed on deep-water culvert of HPP Lai Chui in
Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
One gate set includes two supports intended for transmission of hydrostatic load and lifting
efforts on construction part of facilities and for provision of rotational motion during radial gate
operation.

2 Design description
Articulated support is a welded construction consisting of two parts: movable and fixed supports.
Design of a moveable support if of welded type, consisting of a boss inside which it is installed a
spherical friction bearing GE 420 DW-2RS2 of INA company, Germany.
The boss was taken from steel 25ГС ТУ 24.00.13.030-87, forging Гр.V КП 275
GOST 8479-70 of Ukrainian made (due to the fact of absence of information about steel grades of
Chinese made which are suitable for welding after forging).
Movable support rotates on a rod fixed in ears of fixed articulated joint. Movable support of
articulated joint is fastened to the gate leg with the help of bolts.
Fixed support has a welded construction consisting from plate-basement with two ears
reinforced with rigidity ribs. Load from thrust is accepted by the ear through a thrust washer made of
self-lubricating bronze manufactured by “Innlog” company, Germany.
Fixed support of articulated joint is fastened with a help of anchor bolts to a concrete beam
which accepts hydrostatic load from radial gate.

3 Norms and materials
Calculation of metallic structure of articulated support is fulfilled in accordance with СТП
00117794-2-11-95 Mechanical equipment and special steel structures of hydrotechnical facilities.
