The scientific name of this bird species is "Amazona autumnalis" and is also known by its
common names such as el loro frentirrojo, loro cariamarillo, loro de manglar, cachet
amarillo, loro palencano or chojín. It has green plumage in almost all its body, it has red
forehead and yellow cheeks.
The place visited from the list given was the Parque Histórico de Guayaquil located in the
parish of La Puntilla, it is a recreational theme park that has species of flora and fauna of
Guayaquil. It was built in 1997 by the Banco Central del Ecuador and has 8 hectares of
extension. The objective of the creation of this park was to expose the history and culture of
the old Province of Guayaquil. It has three areas for the tourist's delight as the “zona de
vida silvestre” where a natural habitat is located for species of birds, mammals and
endangered species in the wild; In this area there are 28 species of animals in captivity
rescued by the Fundación de Jambelí such as: white-tailed deer, raccoon and washing bear,
groups of saínos, tigrillos, sloths, crocodiles, among others. It also has the area of " urbano
arquitectónica " in this area recreates the time of wealth of Guayaquil built and modernized
at the beginning of the twentieth century, thus being a complete attraction and rich in the
natural wealth of the city of Guayaquil for tourists interested in geopolitical history of the
city.
This bird species inhabits tropical areas from Mexico to Ecuador: in terrestrial biomes such
as the tropical and subtropical humid deciduous forest, that is, humid forests.
This animal has a mainly vegetable diet and feeds on fresh fruits, green sprouts, nuts,
flowers and vegetables, as well as dried and sprouted seeds, avocado and grapes being toxic
to them; the conditions for their habitat are basically open habitats with trees. For this, they
have their curved and very strong designed beak that use it to break these nuts and thus be
able to feed. They are usually in pairs or in loose flocks; and when they rest and eat they
tend to be more in a group. They usually sleep and take refuge in tall trees in mangrove
forests except when they are in breeding season. They like to rest in the treetops. They nest
3 to 4 eggs in dry seasons in hollows of dead trees in Ecuador in months between January
and March with incubations of 25 to 26 days.
In Ecuador, this species inhabits the southwest coast of this country in provinces such as
Guayas, El Oro, Manabí and Santa Elena.
It is native to tropical regions of America such as Mexico, Colombia and Ecuador. A b c

not endemic to Ecuador.
The conservation status of this species is a minor concern since it does not meet any of the
criteria of the categories of danger, critical danger, vulnerable or almost threatened.
