1 DESCRIPTION

1.1 INTRODUCTION
The flat landing operating panel BPP ensures a decentralized communication
with the control board through CAN bus communications (shaft CAN bus) of
the different signalling devices, detection devices, etc. (peripheral) located on
the floor. The main advantages of a decentralized system lies in the reduction
of the cabling needed, using up less space in the shaft and shorter assembly
times which result in lower maintenance and installation costs. Apart from the
CAN bus, the control system has a TEACH IN signal used to configure BPPs
(level, access, and elevator).
This board is based on the UCP (floor board) but with somewhat less
functionalities. The board integrates the push buttons and arrows.

Since it is a decentralized system, temporary loss of power in the BPP,

shortcuts in the outputs or board failure will not cause the whole system to
fail.

Regarding connectors; these have been made compatible with existing

peripheral components such as LIP4, LIP6, lamps, etc. (CMC3 standard).

To control all functions the BPP has a small and low cost RENESAS R8C/23
microprocessor. This microprocessor is constantly analyzing information from
the peripheral devices and sends signals to the control board via the CAN bus
for processing. The microprocessor analyzes instructions from the control
board, interprets them, and acts on the connected peripheral devices.

5 BPP OPERATION ADJUSTMENTS

5.1 ENTERING FUNCTION SELECTION AND BPP BEHAVIOUR MODE

To enter function selection mode for the programmable inputs/outputs, please follow the
instructions below:

- Ensure the board has no power supply

- Power it up

- During the first 5 seconds on powering the board press P3 (note ¡Error! No se
encuentra el origen de la referencia. )

- The board is now in selection mode to select Programmable input/output

function.

To choose type of behaviour or to assign a functionality to the programmable

input/output follow these instructions:

5.2 SELECTING PROGRAMMABLE INPUT/OUTPUT FUNCTIONS

The functions we can choose from are:

- Door presence (only input)

- Out of order (only input)

- VIP (input and registry)

- Cancel floor (only input)

- Upward special call (input and registry)

- Downward special call (input and registry)

5.3 OTHER PROGRAMMABLE MODES OF OPERATION

Apart from input/output Programmable functions there are other selectable BPP
behaviours:

- Configuring BPP + UCP in the same floor (for special configurations where a
single BPP cannot cover all required functions for said floor. In this case the
programmable input/output has no function, and further inputs and outputs
have to be connected to the UCP that remains in parallel.

- Activate/deactivate board arrows. The input/output stays as before, i.e. the

activation or deactivation of arrows does not affect programmable
input/outputs (if for example you wish to deactivate arrows and select FS the
process has to be done in two steps, the first to deactivate, for example, the
arrows and the second to select FS mode)

5.4 CENTRAL PUSH BUTTON CONFIGURATION

Due to the multiple configuration of the operating panel (1 button, 2 push buttons, keys,
etc) you may want to change the behaviour of the P1 push button.

Push button P1 can operate as an upward call button or as a downward call button
depending on J2 jumper. If J2 jumper is present (by default) then P1 operates as a
downward call. If jumper J2 is removed, P1 will act as the upward button.

5.5 UCP CONNECTION FOR FURTHER FUNCTIONS

Although BPP has a programmable input/output it may be that more than one function
be needed in one floor (e.g. presence and VIP). In this case one BPP is not enough.

The solution as previously mentioned is to make BPP work as a “BPP + UCP in the same
floor”. In this way all functions are connected to UCP while BPP can be used for calls.
I/O PROG in this case would have no function.

The way to do the connection is as follows:

If the control board is located on the top of the shaft, installation is done up to this floor,
(including BPP for that floor where further BPP functions will be required), but the UCP is

placed between TCAN connection box of that floor and the floor below, cabling the
additional items to the UCP.

If the control board is located at the bottom of the shaft, the same can be done, taking
into account that the UCP must be placed between TCAN at this level and the next one
above, cabling additional items to the UCP.

To join TCAN connection box to the landing board the same bundle of cables as with the
TCAN should be used.

6.2 BUZZER

The floor board buzzer is activated when:

• Preregistration/registration of calls
• Resetting the board, BPP sends a short beep.
• When there is a shortcut between 24V output and board 0V sending out
periodical beeps.
• When confirming programmable input/output has been programmed.

7 OTHER FEATURES

If the Programmable input is programmed as presence detection of open door (in

reduced overhead/reduced pit, when the power supply in X2 falls below 15V, BPP goes
into power saving mode, deactivating RUN led and CAN driver and all 24V outputs
except 24V to Firemen connector X1 and to input/output programmable connector X3.

8 FIRMWARE UPDATE

To program or update firmware in the BPP you need:

• USB CMC4 particular programmer or E8 RENESAS programmer.

• Programmer-BPP connection cable with micromatch.

• USB cable (connector USB A type to mini USB-B) to connect PC programmer.

• Installation CD with: programmer drivers, CMC4-win application, FDT software
and BPP file (*.mot, *.tke) that has the firmware.

These are the steps to follow:

Carry out the next steps without connecting the programmer.

• Insert CD and follow the installation steps.
• Connect first the programmer to the BPP board (using AMP micromatch 6
pins connector (small red). Connect USB cable to link programmer and
PC.
• Connect programmer to PC. Please take into account the connection
order so the micro goes into programming mode.
• Execute FDT software from CMC4-win.
• Select Microprocessor R8C/23 (R5F21236).
• Select new com port COM (max. COM8). (Refer to help menu in CD)
• Select .MOT file for BPP.
• Press “Program Flash”.

If any error message appears please refer to the help files in the installation
CD.

9 INSTRUCTIONS TO REPLACE A BPP

To replace a board follow these instructions:

- First disconnect X2 connector (power supply)

- Then disconnect rest of connectors.

- Replace the old board and verify that switch SW1 or jumper J1 and jumper J2
of the new board are in the same position as the old one.

- Do not connect X2. Connect first all other connectors

- Connect X2.

- Configure the programmable input and output if necessary following paragraph

5.1

- After changing a board, cut control board power supply and power up again so
all boards start from reset and a teach-in is carried out.
