for the purpose of engaging students and organizing the resources necessary for the continuation of learning. In an online platform, the non-verbal communication is not
a key component, but his verbal communication is excellent and with an online "view" into the home setting, differing cultural perspectives can be addressed to an even
greater extent.

Standard 5: Application of Content Score No Evidence

5.1

Teacher candidates engage students in applying content knowledge to real-world problems through the lens 92
of interdisciplinary themes (e.g., financial literacy, environmental literacy).
5.2
Teacher candidates facilitate students’ ability to develop diverse social and cultural perspectives that expand 92 1.00
their understanding of local and global issues and create novel approaches to solving problems.
Evidence
(The GCU Faculty Supervisor should detail the evidence or lack of evidence from the Teacher Candidate in meeting this standard. For lack of evidence, please provide suggestions for
improvement and the actionable steps for growth. )
Standard 5: Application of Content - PROFICIENT
Real-world problems are central to the math lessons that Miles is teaching. Interdisciplinary ideas were raised as the student wondered what types of prisms the
word problems might be referring to - he inquired about the dimensions of the box in the problem, pointing out that the large dimensions of one would certainly not
be a cardboard box as indicated but more likely a building - which led to further discussion/inquiry between teacher and student. Social and cultural perspective
development is challenging in a one to one setting with specific math concepts. However, as mentioned previously, teaching/learning from ones home base leads
to interesting learning/discussion that enlightens the understanding between teacher and student.
