Unit’s Main Objective: Students will be able to learn music visually, aurally, and kinesthetically through the remote learning process (Google
Classroom).
Weeks: 1st Grade:
Week 1: Main Obj: Students will use
4/13-4/17 Quaver Curriculum to learn and
review Strong and Weak Beats and
Meters of 2 and 4.
MUS.CR.1.1a: With appropriate
guidance improvise musical ideas
(e.g. beat, meter, rhythm).
Activity 1: In Quaver Curriculum:
1st Grade Lesson 3: Strong and
Weak Beats- Slide 9: The Beat
Song (listen, clap, and count),
slide 11: Train the Brain- Beat Pics
(Play minimum of 3 times), slide
12: Quiz Challenge to review
information learned in pervious
lessons.
Activity 2: Students will watch a
video called Found Sounds by
Upbeat. Make a short 1-2 minute
video of found sounds in your
house.

Week 2: Main Obj: Students will learn
4/20-4/24 about Meters of 2 and 4 through
rhythm and beat patterns.

Activity 1: Student will watch
Quaver videos (Stinky Pirate and
Bubbles, Frank, and the Bucket) to
learn about Meters of 2 and 4.
Activity 2: Students will play a
game to learn differences of 2 and
4 meter and how to conduct in
meters 2 and 4.
Activity 3: Students will listen and
conduct to 3 songs (Star Spangled
Banner, Walking Home, and I’m a
Superhero).
Activity 4: Student will do Body
Percussion Dancing activities in
meters 2 and 4.

2nd Grade:
Main Obj: Students will make
rhythm stick out of a paper towel roll
and beans to be able to practice and
play rhythms.
MUS.CR.1.2a: Improvise rhythmic
and melodic patterns and musical
ideas (e.g. beat, meter, and rhythm).
MUS.CR.2.2a: Demonstrate and
explain personal reasons for selecting
musical ideas (e.g. patterns and
ideas).
Activity 1: Students will use the given
PowerPoint on Rhythm Sticks to
make their own rhythm sticks.
Activity 2: Teacher will provide 2
different rhythms and a video for the
students to practice and record one
of them to submit to Google
Classroom.
Activity 3: Student will write their
own 4 to 8 measure rhythm song to
record and perform on their rhythm
sticks.
Main Obj: Students will learn about
Melodic Movement and how pitches
and intervals work in music through
videos and activities.
MU.RE.7.2b Demonstrate and
identify how specific musical
concepts are used in various styles of
music (e.g. meter and tonality).
Activity 1: Review lines and spaces on
treble clef for music, students use
your portable staff (hands) to practice
note names.
Activity 2: Student will practice Steps,
Skips, and Repeated Notes activities
to understand how reading music
works and sounds. Then, will listen
to the Star-Spangled Banner and see
how the steps, skips, and repeated
notes work in it.
Activity 3: Students will play Interval
Monkey and Bell Pitch Games to
practice telling different pitches.

3rd Grade:
Main Obj: Students will be able to
perform Miss Mary Mack on the
recorder with correct pitch, rhythm,
fingering, and tempo and record to
submit on Google Classroom.

phrases using notation.
Activity 1: Student will review Lesson
29: slides 4 and 5 for Recorder
fingerings and different tempos to
practice A to C Fingering.
Activity 2: Student will listen to
recording of Miss Mary Mack to
know how song goes.
Activity 3: Student will record
themselves playing Miss Mary Mack
(slide 7) on the recorder and upload
it to Google Classroom. (Record until
right and only one upload).

Main Obj: Students will be able to
perform Quaver’s Irish Jig Song on
the recorder with correct fingering,
articulation, rhythm, and tempo.
MUS.PR.4.3c: Read and perform
rhythmic patterns and melodic
phrases using notation.
Activity 1: Students will play
Recorder Buddy Olympics and
Recorder Buddies with score. Then,
will review Chords and Harmony by
video and learn key terms.
Activity 2: Students will play Train
the Brain Activity, Quirky Quiz, and
take a Chord and Harmony
assessment.
Activity 3: Student will learn about
6/8 time through meter games and
activities to help when playing and
recording Quaver’s Irish Jig.
Activity 4: Students will practice the
song on their recorders and prepare it
to record and submit to Google
Classroom. Students will do the
dance moves and clapping to the
song too.

4th Grade:
Main Obj: Students will learn about the
Woodwind Family instruments and what their
purposes are through music, playing sounds, and
instrument anatomies for band recruiting for next
school year.

influenced by personal interest, knowledge,
purpose, and context.
Activity 1: Students will learn about the
Instrument Families and listen to how the
instrument sounds through listening activities and
The Woodwind Family episode and Air Orchestra
video.
Activity 2: Students will learn about the different
parts of the woodwind instruments (Piccolo, Flute,
Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, and
Saxophone) through Woodwind Instrument
Anatomies on Quaver. (4 slides).
Activity 3: Students will watch a video about
Woodwind Animals to hear how woodwinds
sound by themselves.
Activity 4: Students will play and learn terms
about woodwinds. Then, play QLibs to learn
about what woodwind instruments do by using
reading skills.
Activity 5: Students will play the Woodwind
Family Quirky Quiz to see what they have learned
throughout the lesson. Then, watch closing recap
video.
Assessment: Students will explain in a couple of
sentences which Woodwind instrument you liked
most and why? On Google Classroom.

Activity 1: Students will watch a video about what
instruments are in the Brass Family. Then, will
listen to some fabulous fanfares written for brass
instruments. Then, create a trumpet with paper
and create sounds in it.
Activity 2: Students will learn about the
instrument parts and terms in Instrument
Anatomies. Then, listen to Give It Up for the
Brass Video.
Activity 3: Students will take the Quirky Quiz on
Quaver about the Brass Family. Then, play Train
the Brain on Game Mode with information about
the brass family.
Activity 4: Students will do the QLibs activities on
game mode about terms in sentences (3 levels).
Assessment:
Student will do a Quirky Quiz on Quaver about
the Brass Family.

Week 3: Main Obj: Students will make
4/27-5/1 rhythm shakers out of a paper
towel roll and beans (other
materials) to be able to practice
and play rhythms.

Activity 1: Students will watch the Percussion
Family episode and Hit, Shaken, or Scraped
Instruments video to explain different percussion
instruments and how they are played and sound.
Students will do the Percussion Wrangler activity
that goes with the Hit, Shaken, or Scraped video.
Activity 2: Students will learn some percussion
keywords. Then, Students will play Train the
Brain activities learning terms and definitions.
Then, students will play the Quirky Quiz on the
Percussion Family.
Activity 3: Students will learn about World Music
through both songs and instruments.
Activity 4: Students will play the 3 different levels
on QLibs about the Percussion Family terms in
sentences.
Assessment:
Students will do a Quirky Quiz about the
Percussion Family on Quaver.
Students will explain in a couple of sentences
which percussion instrument you liked most and
why? On Google Classroom.
