PHYSICS FA2

1. Name the three types of galaxies

There are three main types of galaxies: Elliptical, Spiral,
and Irregular.

2. Our Solar system is in Milky way galaxy and the shape of

the galaxy is Spiral (disc shaped)
3. The color of a star depends on its surface temperature
4. Dwarf planet
5. Earth
6. December
7. Kilogram
8. 4
9. Planet
10. Fdf
11. Comets and asteroids are small planets, ranging in
size from baseball-sized meteors to 1/3 the size of the
moon. They are the rocky and icy bodies left over from
the formation of the solar system.
Asteroids are small, airless rocky worlds revolving
around the sun that are too small to be called planets.
They are also known as planetoids or minor planets.
Most asteroids lie in a vast ring between the orbits
of Mars and Jupiter. This main asteroid belt holds more
than 200 asteroids larger than 60 miles (100 kilometers)
in diameter. Scientists estimate the asteroid belt also
contains more than 750,000 asteroids larger than three-
fifths of a mile (1 km) in diameter and millions of smaller
ones. Example – Trojan Asteroids
Asteroids are generally considered to be made up of
metals and rocky material, while comets are made up of
ice, dust and rocky material. Both asteroids and comets
were formed during the earliest history of the solar
system, around 4.5 billion years ago.
Comets come from two places in the Solar System:
the Oort Cloud and the Kuiper Belt.
The Oort Cloud is a spherical halo of comets surrounding
the Solar System at a distance of around 50,000
Astronomical Units. (One Astronomical Unit equals the
distance from Earth to the Sun.) Comets from the Oort
Cloud have long orbital periods and can enter the solar
system from many different directions. The Kuiper Belt
is a ring of icy objects beyond the orbit of Neptune (30-
100 AU). It lies (more or less) in the plane of the solar
system and is a reservoir for the short period comets
that we see. The first Kuiper Belt Objects (KBOs) were
discovered in the early 90s, and they captured the
interest of astronomers
