VWVortex.com - VCDS Gurus HELP - Steering Wheel Swap, EPC light, Manual Transmission and 'Tiptronic' Fault Codes

What I have not learned thus far is if I can simply recode the 'new' buttons to stop looking for this 'tiptronic' input, and now I am
wondering how exactly the ACC button is tied in to all of it. I may actually disassemble the new MFSW buttons and physically disable
the connection to this button and then see if that solves this issue?

Any other thoughts from you Don? any other insights from anyone?

I'm limited right now as I only have occasional access to a simply OBDEleven, and no true interface like RossTech. In addition my
coding abilities are limited at best.

Don

I think I may have solved the issue, well sort of..

Had a buddy with another MK7 R come over, he does not have ACC. His MFSW buttons are configured just like the ones in my 1.8T

plugging these new buttons in to his car throws the same EPC light, disables his cruise, and throws the exact same codes.

I didn't have time to actually swap his wheel into my 1.8T to be 100% certain, but I will find out shortly.

I suspect the car gets confused when ACC is present as an option in the steering wheel, and I am wondering if it's not really a
tiptronic paddle shift option issue as much as it's an issue with the Adaptive Cruise feature (or lack thereof). recall the new buttons
function flawlessly in my R which has ACC, but throws EPC lights and disables cruise in cars without ACC.

So while I have not resolved whether or not coding could clear my issue with these new buttons, I think I will simply source buttons
such as the ones in my buddy's R to use in my new steering wheel. This is probably the best approach as not only will the button
configuration be exactly as it is now, but if I ever what to swap the original wheel back in I don't have to worry about potential coding
issues to return the car to it's original function.

Thanks for your insight Don. Will update once confirmed solved.
