This essay is a one thousand words explanation as to why our final project for Information and

Communication Technology failed. First of all, the project was dedicated for the earthquake affected
areas in Mindanao. It aimed to send some happiness for the people who suffered from the earthquakes
that took place in Mindanao. The 6.3 “fore-shock” as what the experts call it, that struck on October 16
of 2019 and was followed by a more powerful 6.6 earthquake that damages building and homes of the
people of Mindanao. A 6.5 aftershock followed at October 31 and since then the aftershocks had been
frequent until December and the latest earthquake was a 6.9 magnitude. The damages that the
earthquakes had done leave many people devastated and that’s why our project was all about in
sending help in the most affected areas where the earthquake struck. The project was named “Share A
Toy” which encourages us as the facilitators to give a toy that we cherished willingly for the children of
the earthquake stricken areas and also encourage other people to do the same and meaning to have a
sponsor to do a Christmas party for the people of the most affected areas. Our goal is to let an
organization or someone urge to sponsor or do a Christmas party to those areas while not having to
leave the school or not having to leave the city, the only thing we can do is to encourage others by
simply posting something to evoke the feeling of compassion for the people most affected of the
earthquake. We ought to reach other people through social media only, and not through messaging the
said organizations to act. Again the goal is to simply encourage through a single post. Truly it is not as
easy as how we imagined it. It isn’t as easy as posting and then all of a sudden the goal was fulfilled. We
aren’t some of those people who can make something go viral. Also there are some circumstances that
prevented us from achieving our goal for our final project. We knew of the chance for it to fail but we
still push forward with the thought of success. There are certain things that contributed to the failure of
our project such as lack of knowledge for the search engine optimization our Information and
Communication Technology professor told us. We are computer literate but not literate as those who
are Information Technology graduates and major. We knew things but these things are not enough for
us to succeed the plan we made. Besides the lack of knowledge, our thoughts also in time when it was
posted were preoccupied for the incoming finals specially for me that was on my second take for the
subjects; Calculus and Surveying. Well half in our section are in our second take for those subjects so the
pressure was really high. We wanted to finally pass the subjects so we studied hard for those exams and
thus taking our focus for the “share a toy” project. And often times when the focus is not solely on
something, one will lose that. Our focus was split not only to two but many parts for the finals are
coming. It is regrettable for the failed project but we did not mean for it to fail. We really wanted for it
to succeed, we wanted to at least help in making the people who are most affected of the recent
earthquakes smile. We wanted to ease some sadness off their shoulders and let them be happy at least
for a time. We wanted to let them remember that even in times of difficulties there are many reasons
for us to be grateful and be happy about. Knowing us Filipinos, we find happiness in small things and
ease each other’s burden by giving a helping hand. So upon knowing that our plan didn’t work
disappoints us greatly but even so, we anticipated this kind of outcome. From the very start, again, we
considered the possibility of this “share a toy” project/drive to fail and we were ready for this possibility
to happen but reality is often more disappointing more than the thought of it but then life goes on just
because we fall short doesn’t mean we should blame ourselves to no end. With this fact, there are still
other methods for us to send our regards and help to the people of areas most affected to earthquake.
The government does send relief goods and other organizations or even group of people make an effort
to help the people. One can send money to organizations or perhaps give some conned goods, noodles,
clothes and other things directly. Also one can also be a volunteer in repacking relief goods. There are so
many things for us to do for us to help. The important thing is that we feel for our fellow, we are aware
of their struggles and we reach out to give a helping hand, we make efforts in order to send our sincerity
to give help to them. Even though most of us aren’t well off or rich, we can help by volunteering. And
one of the reason we agreed for the final project is our lack of money, budget to send help, knowing
that we are still students who receives money from our parents, one thing we can do is to encourage
other in social media where we spend most of our time, might as well make use of it, but then again the
plan failed and again we know we take part for the reason why it ended that way but then again we
never wanted for it to fail. In conclusion, there are some things that will not go as planned and there are
many things to consider in everything we do nonetheless persevere and when it fails accept and if it
succeeds rejoice and never forget God and the people with you through the journey.
