Creating a Recipe or Meal
Creating a recipe or meal works much like selecting food for a Nutricircle. However, a meal or recipe
is built using foods or items from the Food List. To create a recipe, open the Enter Recipe Window by
clicking the Diet/Recipe menu option. Then, click new. The Enter Recipe Window will open as in
Figure 2.
1. Enter the name for the recipe in the Recipe Name box.
2. Enter the units type for this. For a recipe, typically choose serv for servings.
3. In the amount box indicate how many servings the recipe will make. Example: For a soup
recipe, the final volume will make eight 1-cup servings so enter 8 in the amount field. For a
meal, set the serving quantity for serv but enter 1 and add the proper amount of each item for
one serving.
4. To add a food to a recipe or meal, double click the name of the food from the Food List in the
right half of the window.
a. For a recipe or meal select the unit type: serv, oz or ounces, g for grams, cup, Tbsp,
tsp, fl. oz, or ml for milliliter.
b. For a meal, typically serv is used; while for recipes volumes or weights are used.
c. Enter the amount for that food item.
5. Add the next food item from the list until all items for the recipe or meal are added.
6. Double check quantities.
7. At any time in this window, click in the amount box to change the quantity. The calories
associated with this food quantity will automatically update.
8. At any time in this window, the units may be changed by clicking in the units box. The calories
associated with this food will automatically update.
9. When the meal or recipe is complete click Display in the Enter Recipe Menu and select the
Nutricircle menu item. This will immediately open the Nutricircle for the Meal or recipe that
was built in the previous steps. Click File and select Print to print the page (see page 1 step 4
for details on printing).

Printer Page Setup
This section is for troubleshooting and adjusting the margins in the Printer Page Setup Screen.
1. Click File and select Print to load the Print window similar to the image below. Typically the
printer will be the default windows printer. Click OK to proceed.
2. The Printer Page Setup window will open. Similar to the image below. If all margin setting
boxes indicate a value of 0.17” or greater, click OK to print the Nutricircle page. Any margin
less than 0.17” will prevent printing.

Example:
By increasing the left and right margins, the size of the Nutricircle is reduced to fit within the new print
region defined by the margins. By reducing the size proportionally, the top and bottom margins are
increased as well. In the following example, a single Nutricircle is to be printed in portrait format. The
left and right margins are initially 0.90”, the top margin is 0.14” a minimum for the particular printer.
The bottom margin is reported at -0.53”.
To correct the problem, 0.10” is added to the left and right margin bringing each to 1.0”. The resulting
changes are as follows: top margin remains at 0.14” and the bottom increases to -0.19. The steps
are repeated again, adding 0.25” to left and right margins. The top margin remains unchanged at
0.14”; while the bottom margin increases to 0.66”. To make the top and bottom margins equal, the
top margin is adjusted to 0.40”, which causes bottom margin to become 0.40”. OK is clicked and the
page prints with the Nutricircle roughly centered in the page.
