Module 4 "Human Nature "

Worksheet No. (34)
Read the following passage and then answer the questions.
Living in groups is normal for many animals, including humans. Some animals have amazing
social systems. Ants, for example, live in huge nests. They work closely together and can
communicate with each other. Each ant has a certain job to do. Only one, the queen, produces
eggs, and worker ants look after them. Other workers bring food to the nest and soldier ants
defend it. This system is incredibly successful. Ants have lived on Earth for at least 100 million
years and for every human, there are a million ants.
Sometimes animals from different species work together and help each other. A fascinating
example is the relationship between Nile crocodiles and a bird called The Egyptian plover. Very
few small animals are brave enough to go near a crocodile. Its huge jaws and sharp teeth are
much too dangerous. But plovers walk inside a crocodile's open mouth! They are not in danger
because they eat parasites which are bad for crocodiles. In return, they get food and protection.

1- What is normal for many animals?
