INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL TRAVEL INSURANCE

The International Medical Travel Insurance makes provision for emergency medical expenses while
the NMC members and/or their dependants are travelling anywhere in the world including SADC
region.

The cover is limited to N$10 million per incident and up to a maximum of 90 days stay in a foreign
country. An excess of N$1 500 applies for each event.

The International Medical Travel Insurance does not apply to any non-emergency, planned elective
surgery or procedure or pre-existing conditions.

WHAT TO DO BEFORE YOU TRAVEL COUNTRIES OUTSIDE THE BORDERS OF NAMIBIA:

1. Obtain an International Travel Insurance Certificate available at all Methealth Namibia


Administrators Client Service Offices and branches. Please keep the Certificate with you during the
duration of your trip. Kindly note that a separate form must be completed for each dependant
travelling. The following information is required:
• Copy of Passport of every travelling beneficiary
• NMC Membership Number
• Date of Departure and Date of Arrival
• Country of Destination

The International Travel Insurance Certificate should be requested every time you leave
outside the borders of Namibia regardless of the frequency of your travel.

The turnaround time for the issue of the certificate is within 24 hours upon application.

2. Complete an International Travel Insurance Declaration Form, which is also available at all
Methealth Namibia Administrators Client Service Offices and branches.

HOW TO CLAIM FOR MEDICAL EXPENSES WHILE TRAVELLING COUNTRIES OUTSIDE THE
BORDERS OF NAMIBIA:

In the event of an Insured Person (member of NMC and his/her dependants) suffering an incident
while travelling on an international journey and incurs emergency medical and related expenses as a
result of injury or due to minor or major illness, the Insured Person shall at his own expense:

1. As soon as possible notify Netcare 911 of any claim but not later than 24 hours from
treatment for such incident or loss. Please contact:

2. Claim forms must be properly completed and all evidence required must be furnished within
30 days after the happening of any circumstances giving rise to the claim, at the Insured
Person’s expense and shall be such form or other information as OracleMed Health may
reasonably request.
3. All certificates, information and evidence required shall be furnished in the form prescribed
and without expense to OracleMed Health and must be submitted OracleMed Health within 90
days of notification. After 30 days the onus will rest with the Insured Person to prove that the
OracleMed Health was not prejudiced in any way of the late notification.
4. As often as required provide authority for OracleMed Health to inspect all current and/or past
medical or other information including the results of any blood tests and submit to medical
examination on behalf of and at the expense of the OracleMed Health.
5. Any claim in terms of this policy should be submitted within 90 days from the date of
occurrence of the insured incident if the claim is outstanding and not the subject of a then
pending court case.
6. All benefits payable shall be paid to the Insured Person or his legal representative or the
medical / hospital institution whose receipt shall in every case be a full discharge to
OracleMed Health.
7. The Insured Person must follow the OracleMed Health’s advice or instructions otherwise the
OracleMed Health may decline to pay part of or the entire claim.

The policy explaining the full benefits offered as well the exclusions applicable to International Medical
Travel Insurance is available at OracleMed Health or at Methealth Namibia Administrators. Please
familiarize yourself with the policy to avoid unnecessary disappointment should a claim arises. For
