VIRTUAL SCIENCE FAIR 2020

REGULATIONS FOR PARTICIPANTS AND SUPERVISORS


Participation and entry
Participation in the VIRTUAL SCIENCE FAIR 2020 is entirely dependent upon the full completion of an entry
form, including signatures of, and contact information for, both the participant(s) and the Supervisor.

Language
The investigation and its different components, including the Scientific Poster and the video, will be conducted in
English.

Supervision
1. All participants should work under the supervision of an adult, whose role is to guide the student(s) through
the project but not conduct or take a lead in the investigation and its different components.
2. Supervisors should ensure that essential health and safety procedures are followed whenever necessary
during the investigation.
3. Supervisors should maintain communication with the organisers of the VIRTUAL SCIENCE FAIR 2020 so
that progress can be monitored and advice given.

Plagiarism
1. The investigation and its subsequent Scientific Poster and Video presentations must be the original work of
the participating student(s) and not the work of another person or other people (Participants may seek advice
help in the filming of the video.)
2. If other people’s work is researched or referred to or in any way used, then it must be properly and publicly
acknowledged.

Weekly, virtual meetings


All entrants will participate in a weekly, virtual meeting with the organisers of THE VIRTUAL SCIENCE FAIR.

Deadlines
If participating student(s) do not meet the deadlines determined for the VIRTUAL SCIENCE FAIR 2020, then
their participation may be voided, unless valid justification can be requested or offered.

Internet Web Page


It is important to understand that the Internet web page created for the VIRTUAL SCIENCE FAIR 2020 is in the
public domain, therefore:
1. Any piece of work or image or comment uploaded into the web site must respect copyright and, if necessary,
should be acknowledged. There must be no anonymous activity on the Internet web site.
2. No personal information, such as e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, photos or other data which might
lead to unwanted identification, is permitted on the Internet web site, unless authorised by the authorities of
Liceo Campoverde and with the permission of the individuals involved.

Assessment
The projects will be assessed and evaluated by a Committee of experts from the Liceo Campoverde community.
Participants may be asked to ‘defend’ their investigations before the Committee, during when they will be
questioned about procedures, their results and conclusions, and their other outcomes. Decisions made by the
Assessment Committee will be binding.
