Questions:
1. Answer the ten “Leading Questions” below, which can also be found on page 113 (One
small paragraph, 3-5 sentences, should be sufficient for each point).

a. What does the exodus teach us about the character of God and His redemptive
program?
The exodus show us God's sovereignty. He alone possesses all authorithy and power
in the world he has created. The exodus show us God's faithfulness and Mercy. Both
actually go together; God promised goodness and mercy, and he would be faithfull to
his word.

b. How did the Mosaic Law as a whole function in Israel?


The mosaic law had different aspects of meaning to Israel. It worked as a constitution,
it was the foundation on which the Israelites were supossed to built their whole
community. It worked as moral code, which was supposed to built their heart and be
the foundation of their personality. It function as a ceremonial handbook. It described
the ways the Israelites were supposed to offer sacrifice, described their sacred
seasons, and described their separation from God.

c. What are the three primary aspects of the Law?


Constitution

d. What was the heart of the Mosaic Law?


For the chosen people to be holy as God is holy.

e. What was the purpose of the sacrificial ritual?


The purpose was to restore the harmony between God and a sinner. For the sinner to
repent and reflect upon the damage it's behavior creates when his sin has to be
forgiven with an innocent animal blood.

f. What was the rationale behind the laws of uncleanliness?


The rationale was to explain us the separation there is with God. It shows us a holy
God that is the definition of cleanliness and us, who need to rely on the Lord to be able
to present ourselves to him.

g. How was the Mosaic Law code different from other ancient Near Eastern law codes?
The biggest difference was in the importance the mosaic law gives to life. It shows us
as the beholders of the image of God. For that reason the biggest commanments are
love for God above everything, and love for the neighbor.

h. How does the Sinai Covenant relate to second millennium suzerainty treaties and what
is the theological significance of this?
Salvation and forgiveness comes from God only. Jesus comes to us in an
unconditional way. God ask us for our loyalty. God is the one that guides the course
of history. God's word is the giver of knowledge on faith and ethics for the Christian.
Sanctity permeates all life. Salvation is for anyone who turns to the Lord.

i. How does the Tabernacle fit into the Sinai Covenant?
