EXERCISE NUMBER 1

EXERCISE NAME SOLID PYRAMID


MODULE BASIC
PROBLEM STATEMENT SOLID PYRAMID IS TO BE
CREATED BY USING NUMBER
OF SIDES, LENGTH OF THE SIDE
AND HEIGHT

1.1 Open a new part using menu File->New.

1.2 Set the Design Mode as “Part Design”, Unit as “mm”, Drafting
Standard as IS and enter Part Name as “solid- pyramid”.
CollabCAD window pops up on the screen and press F to fit into screen
so that XY plane is displayed.

1.3 Set the view to top. Go to View->Top or press Ctrl+T.

1.4 Go to menu Solid->Pyramid and specify the center as origin.


(Press O) To specify Base point activate mouse right click and select
Workspace Origin from the displayed option. A Pyramid Creation
dialog pops up. Enter the following inputs:-

No. of Sides : 6
Side Length : 25
Height : 50

Press OK and a pyramid with the above parameters is created.

1.5 Change the view to isometric using menu View->Isometric or press


Ctrl+\ key. Press F to fit into screen.

1.6 To change the display mode option go to menu Tools->Option-


>Sessions and select Shading tab. Set the following options from combo
box:-

Method : Gouraud
Transparency: Proportional
Display : Hidden Line Removal
Quality : Refined (set the slide bar to left most corner for
better display quality)
1.7 Now a solid pyramid is ready. Press “S” to shade “R” for wire
frame display.

1.8 Save the part as solid_pyramid.muz using menu File->Save


As. A file Chooser dialog box will appear that shows the files in
the default path. If user prefers, he can save the part in different
folder.

Creating 2D Projection Views using Plot Config:

1.9 Goto menu File->Plot Configurator and the 2D plot config


application window is displayed on the screen.

1.10 Close the Symbol Pallet.

1.11 Before creating 2D projection views make the following


settings.

1.12 Go to File->Page Setup and a dialog box will pop up. Select
Paper Size as “A4” and Orientation as “Landscape” and
Paper Width and Height are set automatically.

1.13 Go to Tools->Options and plot options dialog box will pop up.
Select Display type as “Hidden Line Removal”, Scale as “1:1”
and click View Border under general tab. If needed user can
set filters by blocking the type of entities like point, curve etc.
in plot config.

1.14 Maximize plot config application to full screen by dragging


along the top or bottom corner.

1.15 Go to View->Standard Select layout dialog box will pop up.


Select “First Angle 4Views” projection from combo box and
four projection views right side, front, left side and top view
are displayed on the screen.
For getting isometric view Goto View-> Select, View dialog
box will pop up. Select the required view from combo box and
drag on the plot config screen.
1.16 View border can be increased by dragging along horizontally or
vertically. Goto View->Modify and the mouse near to view
border and the cursor position will change to drag arrow
symbol automatically

Or

Goto View->Scale and a dialog box will pop up. Specify the
Rect Width and Rect Height as per requirement so that view
borders of all views are modified uniformly.

1.17 The individual views can be moved within its view border.
Goto View->Modify and press Ctrl Key and drag the desired
view within the view border. The unnecessary views can be
deleted by using menu View->Delete and selecting the
particular view.

1.18 To show the Axis Line go to Dimensions->Symbols->Axis


Line. For first point for centerline select point just above center
of view in a box and for the second point select point just below
center of view.

1.19 Save the plot as solid_pyramid.mup using menu File->Save


As. A file chooser dialog box will appear that shows the files in
the default path. If user prefers, he can save plot in different
folder

EXERCISE NAME HEXAGON PRISM
MODULE BASIC
PROBLEM STATEMAENT A SOLID PRISM IS TO BE
CREATED BY USER WITH
POLYGON ENTITY AS BASIC
PROFILE AT TWO DIFFERENT
DEPTH USING SOLID
MODELING

2.1 Open a new part using menu File->New.

2.2 Set the Design Mode as “Part Design”, Unit as “mm”, Drafting
Standard as IS and enter Part Name as “solid_prism”. CollabCAD
window pops on the screen and press F to fit into screen so that XY plane is
displayed.
2.3 Set the view to top. Goto View->Top or press Ctrl+T. Press F to fit
into screen.

2.4 Goto menu Basic->Polygon->Side and specify the center as origin.


To specify center activate mouse right click and select Workspace Origin
from the displayed option. A dialog box pops up on the screen and enter
the following values to create a hexagon:-

Number of Sides : 6
Length of the base of side : 25

A hexagon with a dimension is displayed on the screen.


NOTE: This exercise can also be done using a pentagon, octagon etc.
by changing the number of sides.

2.5 Change the view to Isometric using menu View->Isometric or press


Ctrl+\ key.

2.6 Press F to fit into screen.

2.7 Make a copy of hexagon profile at a height of 75mm.Goto menu Edit-


>Copy and Translate->Delta. Select the hexagon profile and press enter.
Copy and translate dialog box pops up on the screen and enter:-

X=0
Y=75
Z=0
Copies=1

And press OK.

2.8 Press F to fit into screen. Now another hexagon will be available at a
height of 75mm.

2.9 Goto menu Solid->Loft->Curves and select both the hexagon and
profiles and press enter. Lofting options dialog box will pop up and
select Ruled from combo box and press OK.

2.10 To change the display mode option Goto menu Tools->Options-


>Sessions and select Shading tab. set the
following options from combo box

Method : Gouraud

Display : Hidden Line Removal

2.11 Now a hexagon solid prism is ready. Press “S” to shade “R” for wire

EXERCISE NAME PENTAGON FRUSTUM
MODULE BASIC
PROBLEM STATEMENT A SOLID FRUSTUM IS TO BE
CREATED BY USER WITH
POLYGON ENTITY AS BASIC
PROFILE AT TWO DIFFERENT
DEPTH USING SOLID
MODELLING

3.1 Open a new part using File-> New

3.2 Set the Design Mode as " Part Desgin", Unit as "mm" .Drafting
Standard as IS and enter Part Name as "solid_frustum".CollabCAD
window pops up on the screen and press F to fit into the screen so that
XY plane is displayed.

3.3 Set the view to top. Goto View->Top or press Ctrl + T. Press F to fit
into screen.

3.4 Goto menu Basic->Polygon->Side and specify the centre as origin.


To specify centre activate mouse right click and select Workspace Origin
from the displayed option. A dialog box pops up on the screen and enter
the following vaules to create a pentagon

No of sides : 5
Length of Base Side : 25

A pentagon with a dimension is displayed on the screen.

NOTE: This exercise can also be done using a hexagon,octagon etc.


by changing the number of sides.

3.5 Similarly create one more pentagon with a base side of "20" mm.
(Figure 1)

3.6 Change the view to Isometric using menu View->Isometric or press


Ctrl+ key.

3.7 Press F to fit into screen.


3.8 Make a copy of hexagon profile at a height of 50mm. Goto menu
Edit->Copy and Translate->Delta. Select the inner pentagon profile and
press enter. T ranslate dialog box pops up on the screen and enter:-

X=0
Y=50
Z=0
Copies=1

And press OK.

3.9 Press F to fit into screen. Now another pentagon will be available at a
height of 50mm. (Figure 2)

To Create Pentagon Solid Frustum:

3.10 Goto menu Solid->Loft->Curves and select bottom pentagon and


press N. Simialrly select the other pentagon curve at a height of 50 mm
and press enter. Lofting options dialog box will pop up and select Ruled
from combo box and press OK.

3.11 To change the display mode option Goto menu Tools->Options-


>Sessions and select Shading tab. set the following options from combo
box (Figure 3).
