Under the topic of mental wellness, we have started to learn the
Kurals, in the chapter Aߦøhø©, which talks on love.
So far, we have seen two Kurals. The first Kural said that,

¦ßPs}º §ŒÀ u¸® (v¸USÓÒ & 71)
It is impossible to hide love. Tears will reveal the love, present in
the heart.
We saw the nature of love in that Kural.
The second Kural said that,
Aߤ»õº GÀ»õ® u©US›¯º, Aߦøh¯õº
Gߦ® E›¯º ¤ÓºUS (v¸USÓÒ & 72)
Those who don’t have love in their heart, will keep everything for
themselves. Those who are full of love, will even give their physical
body, willingly to others.
This third Kural, which we are learning today, tells that,
“The glory of our birth, is to live, with love”.
The glory of the Jiva living in this human body, lies in his expression
of love.
If one does not express one’s love, the glory of human birth is
lost.
We are seeing this concept, repeatedly in Tirukkural -
Body and Soul (or Jiva) are different.
B¸°º indicates the precious nature of the Jiva.
Really speaking, we are trying to protect only the physical body.
The soul or Jiva does not have birth or death. It need not be protected.
But only while living in this human body, the soul can reach glorious
heights.
 Only in this human birth, the soul can cultivate values, develop its
intelligence, can worship God and serve the society.
Because of all these reasons, the soul living in the human body is
considered to be precious - mentioned as B¸°º in this Kural.
I quoted the song of Tayumanavar in the previous Kurals -
Aßø£¨ ö£¸UQ GÚuõ¸°øµU PõUPÁ¢u
Cߣ¨ ö£¸U@P CøÓ@¯ £µõ£µ@©
“O God, you are an embodiment of happiness, you have come to
save my life (soul), by enriching my love”
God protects the soul, by cultivating love in our hearts. Only by
God’s grace, true love develops in our hearts.
Thus, love, human body, soul, human birth - everything is glorified
in this Kural.
In the previous Kural, we saw the purpose of love - It is to help
others.
Love expresses as help, service - to others.
In this Kural, Tiruvalluvar mentions that - the very purpose of human
birth - is to help others.
The glory of this intelligent human birth, lies in expressing love.
The Jiva living in the human body alone - is blessed with self-
thinking capacity or intelligence. The glory of intelligence, lies in love.
Thus, the Jiva living in the human body has two glories - intelligence
and love.
Tiruvalluvar tells,

It is not enough, if one has intelligence. Expression of love is equally
important.
The word ÁÇUS in the Kural refers to, age-old tradition.
öuõhº¦ means continuing relationship.
For this precious Jiva, the relationship with the physical body, is
one filled with the sweetness of love.
Only while living in this human body, a Jiva can express love in
an excellent way.
 Other beings also, express their love. Beings live worms etc., do
not have the facility to express their love.
Generally, the word ÁÇUS refers to fighting for one’ rights. Here -
in this context - it means - the right of a human being - is to express
love.
If the soul and body are not together - any noble action cannot be
performed. Only if, they both are together, they can do Punyam.
By the integration of vowels and consonants, new letters are born
and language flourishes. With the help of language, we are able to
know new things and objects and thus - it leads to the growth of
knowledge.
Similarly, by the integration the soul (Jiva) and the body, lot of
noble actions can be done - which will lead to the welfare of the society.
The reason behind this is - understanding the greatness of human
birth and expressing one’s love.
As love grows, happiness also increases. Happiness increases
for all beings, in the presence of love.
The one who expresses love, earns lot of Punyam. He gains Mukti
also.
We have already lived in many other animal bodies, previously.
We would have been, expressing our love, there also.
But, only in human birth, the Jiva can express his love, intelligently.
Knowing this, all of us should express our love and grow it more.
This precious soul is in this human body. The very reason for its
association with the human body is - to live, with love.
