ASSIGNMENT-PEL538
MM-30
Hours of Work
There are no prescribed hours of attendance for office managers. The main office hours comprise
a 37½ hour week worked from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm on Monday to Friday, with one hour for
lunch. All sections work a flexi time scheme of attendance which features core hours from 9.30
am to 4.00 pm with a lunch break of between 30 minutes and two hours’ duration, with the
opportunity to work from 7.30 am to 6.00 pm daily, at which time the premises are locked.
Office managers do not qualify for overtime rates for any additional hours worked, but time off
may be taken for any hours required to be worked at weekends. In one calendar year, a total of 5
weeks’ holiday may be taken. Staff is reminded that they may not take more than two
consecutive weeks of holiday.

11. Paragraph –
‘Late Payers’
Cash flow means the inflow and outflow of cash. This cash flow sometimes gets
disrupted because of the late payers. Cash flow is the lifeblood of any business,
without it any business will crumble and incur huge losses. Late payment disrupts
cash flow. It may seem unimportant for small scale businesses to go unpaid. But,
imagine a situation where this number keeps growing. It will lead to disorganized
operating cycle. Suppliers would have to go unpaid and staff without salaries.
What can be done to avoid such a situation?
A number of methods can be adopted to ensure payments are made to the business
on time. At the time of selling on credit, a clause of punitive bank charges shall be
added to the agreement. Likewise, a number of clauses can be added to the
agreement.
For example, if any person fails to pay off those charges can be sued. For those
dealing in real estate businesses, a forfeiture clause can be added which means
failure of making payment on time would lead to abolishment of the contract.
12 (b) Pattern analysis is the study of past behavior of a variable to predict the
future outcomes.
12 (d) Counter punchers believe that the future will result from a series of events
and actions that are essentially unpredictable and, to a large extent, random.
12 (e) Intuitors are those who have the ability to understand instinctively.
13. Report on How working hours lead to Occupational Stress.
Introduction: In today’s ultra competitive job market, the good old nine to five
job seems like an ancient relic. Today’s recruiter makes it clear that while it isn’t
stated in your contract, staying in the office past your scheduled working hours
will be something that’s expected of you. However, while your work ethic is being
praised by your boss, it’s taking a hefty toll on your body.
Facts: Working more than 40 hours a week is associated with increased alcohol
and tobacco consumption, as well as unhealthy weight gain in men and depression
in women. Little productive work occurs after 50 hours of work per week. In
companies with normal overtime, only 23% had absentee rates above 9%.
Suggestions:
1. Work Load Assessment
2. Employee Monitoring
3. Time Management
4. Advanced Planning
Conclusion: We may never return to the traditional 40-hour workweek. But with
the right tools and strategies in place, employees can work more effectively in the
office rather than out of the office.
