The important of unit
• A unit of measurement is a definite magnitude of a quantity, defined and adopted by
convention or by law, that is used as a standard for measurement of the same kind of
quantity.
• Measurement is a process of determining how large or small a physical quantity is as
compared to a basic reference quantity of the same kind.
System of Units

• Historically many of the systems of measurement which had been in use were to some extent
based on the dimensions of the human body. As a result, units of measure could vary not only
from location to location, but from person to person.
• The system of units varies from country to country and some of the different system of units are
CGS system of units, FPS system of units, MKS system of units .
• CGS (centimetre, gram, second), MKS( meter, kilogram, second) which are know as
SI(International system ) of units .They are also known as metrices units.[m, kg, m^3,
kilometre]
• FPS (foot , lb ,sec) which include in English unit or imperial unit.[feet, pound ,gallon, miles,
yard]
• In physics, natural units are physical units of measurement based only on universal physical
constants. For example,(Boltzmann constant and so on)
• What do you think of Myanmar units?

Rounding, Scientific Notation and
Significant figure
Rounding; Rounding a number means replacing it with a different number that is approximately
equal to the original, but has a shorter, simpler, or more explicit representation; for example,
replacing $23.4476 with $23.45, or the fraction 312/937 with 1/3, or the expression √2 with
1.414. On the other hand, rounding of exact numbers will introduce some round-off error in the
reported result.
Scientific Notation: Scientific notation (also referred to as scientific form or standard index form, or
standard form in the UK) is a way of expressing numbers that are too big or too small to be conveniently
written in decimal form. It is commonly used by scientists, mathematicians and engineers, in part because
it can simplify certain arithmetic operations. On scientific calculators it is usually known as "SCI" display
mode. In scientific notation, all numbers are written in the form

m × 10n
Significant figure:The significant figures (also known as the
significant digits and decimal places) of a number are digits that
carry meaning contributing to its measurement resolution. This
includes all digits except:

All leading zeros. For example, "013" has two significant figures: 1
and 3;
Prefixes of Base Unit
A unit prefix is a specifier or mnemonic that is prepended to units of measurement to indicate multiples or
fractions of the units. Units of various sizes are commonly formed by the use of such prefixes. The prefixes of the
metric system, such as kilo and milli, represent multiplication by powers of ten. In information technology it is
common to use binary prefixes, which are based on powers of two. Historically, many prefixes have been used or
proposed by various sources, but only a narrow set has been recognised by standards organisations.
Unit Changing
Sanity Test
A sanity test or sanity check is a basic test to quickly evaluate whether a claim or the result of a
calculation can possibly be true. It is a simple check to see if the produced material is rational (that the
material's creator was thinking rationally, applying sanity). The point of a sanity test is to rule out certain
classes of obviously false results, not to catch every possible error.
• The power output of a car cannot be 700 kJ, since the unit joules is a measure of energy, not power (energy
per unit time). This is a basic application of dimensional analysis.
• When determining physical properties, comparing to known or similar substances will often yield insight on
whether or not the result is reasonable. For instance, most metals sink in water, so the density of most
metals should be greater than that of water (~1000 kg/m3).
Conclusion

• You have to learn basic unit system in measurement and how they are link each other.
• In, addition some measurement devices have already learn.
• We have already discussed about rounding method, Significant figure and prefixed basic
unit.
• The story of the incorrect set of unit have already learned.
• The question for Myanmar measurement unit system is come.
