This journal describes a simulation created using Scilab to analyze image formation for a concave mirror. The simulation uses concepts from calculus and optics. Two types of simulations are created - one that precisely draws the light rays based on the mirror's curvature, and one that draws the rays to touch the line s=0. The results of the simulations are compared to analytical calculations. The first type of simulation was found to have errors of up to 3.5% in image distance and 2.65% in object height compared to the analytical solutions. The simulation is intended to provide students a tool to predict and understand image formation using concave mirrors.

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING UNIVERSITAS NEGERI MEDAN REVIEW THE JOURNAL
TITLE OF JOURNAL Simulated Analysis Of Image Formation For
Convance Mirror With Scilab By Using The Concept Of Calculus PAGE OF JOURNAL 10 pages THE YEAR 2019 WRITER Erwin Randjawali and Robi D. Riupassa PREEFACE The utilization of computer as a medium of learning has been proven can attract interest and motivation of student to study physics. One way to use it as medium is by creating a simulation which is related to the topic being taught. The simulation is made by using the physics concepts about optical geometry in concave mirror, computation of science, and the concept of calculus. The application which are used in this simulation is Scilab 6.0.0 and simplescreenrecorder 0.3.8. In this experiment, we create two types of simulation of image formation drawing which is normaly found in Physics text book. In the first type, the tip of the special rays is described precisely about the curvature of the concave mirror, while the second type, the end of the rays are drawn up to the line s 0. The aims of this experiment is to produce a learning media which can be used by student to predict image formation of concave mirror, and also to compare which type gives the same result as the result obtained analytically. Result of the simulation shows that the first type has a difference when compared with analytic result. By using mirror radius 20cm, object distance 25cm. and the height of object Scm, we get error calculation of image distance about 3.533% and the height of the object about 2,650%. The errors in the first type quite vary according to the value of s and h which are used.
PURPOSE This simulation is made not only by using the
concept of Physics, but it also needs to be combined with the knowledge of computing tools and applied mathematical concepts.Because it can not be denied that Mathematics is a language used among scientist, so students also need to learn Mathematics concepts needed to study Physics THE SUBJECT The study was conducted by studying the literafure of hooks and journals relevant to the simulation of the formation of images on a spherical mirror, and the use of Scilab in computational science METHOD The writer’s use action research or observation in STKIP PGRI PASURUAN. However, only 37 students were taken as the subjects of the study on the basis of the consistency of attendance and papers submitted during the research. This class was taken because of their problems in writing, Such as grammar, vocabulary and ideas. RESEARCH PROCEDURE Flowchart to make this simulation can be seen in Figure L. This simulation uses Scilab because it is a free open-source software (FOSS) that can be usd for scientific things, such as numerical computation, simulation, oprimization, and so on [11]. Free open- source software is perfect for research and education because the cost of buy ing and maintaining &is very small, and even some software does not cost thatr [12]. In ihis stuly we used wo types of ways to descihe the formation of images n concave miror which is normally found in Physics textbooks. For the fint type, the incaming rays are descibed precisely about the curvature of the mirror, and then reflected [13], while the second type, the tip of these special rays is drawn to touch the line s-0 and also reflected [14]. Both types of ways to illustrate the formation of this image can be seen in Figure 7 and Figure 9. The results of this simulation are then compared with the results obtained analytically, in order to determine which type is appropriate with analytic results.
INSTRUMENTS There are several instruments used in thestudy.
They were direct writing tests, observation, documentation, and scoring guide to score the students’ compositions.
RESULT The results of this simulation
are then compared with the results obtained analytically, in order to determine which type is appropriate with analytic results.
STRONGNEST OF JOURNAL This journal give a specific method of research
and from the journal we can find that the abstract relate to main topic
WEAKNESS OF JOURNAL According to us the writer can take picture as
long the test of research happened, it will be more trusted than just ive some information about the score of the test.
CONCLUSION From the journal we found out that explicit
planning instruction effectively can improve the students paragraph writing performance.
