Coronavirus disease: In this unprecedented moment,
Philadelphia Community Hospital, a unit of TLMTI, feel a great
responsibility to support Government initiatives and the
communities we work with. Without awareness people can be
misinformed, misled, or even completely unaware of the health
challenges they face therefore TLMTI has developed a ‘public
awareness campaign’ called VirusPeVijay.
Strategic, sustained, uniform and correct messaging will help our
communities to stay safe, well informed and protected from
Covid-19. Increased awareness and reduced fear will result in
slowing the spread of the pandemic and mitigate the risk of
COVID-19 transmission.TLMTI #VirusPeVijay Campaign

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a

newly discovered Coronavirus. The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily
through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected
person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice
respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).

The Forgotten Tribal communities

Our Politicians in their Independence

Day address to the Nation talks about
inclusive development with food
security, safe housing, and sanitation
being the rights of every citizen.
Health is intimately linked to these
essentials.

But in reality, these tribal people live

in remote parts close to the forest area
Dr.Puspa Kanthi Pal tying Mask to with poor transport facilities, poor Dr.Puspa Kanthi Pal giving
the Tribal Women awareness to the Tribal Women
access to the main stream Health
services like hospitals, poor antenatal
and postnatal care with high morbidity
and mortality.

In addition, they have to cope with this

CORONAVIRUS pandemic. They
have poor or no access to Health
services and most of them have no
education. They cannot understand
how serious and fatal this pandemic
can be.
Dr Anuradha tying Mask to the Miss Mary Vasantha tying Mask to
Tribal Women
The Philadelphia Community Hospital
runs free clinics, giving free the Tribal Women
medication, and free anti-natal and
post-natal care. Additionally we have
been to their villages giving Health
Education, making masks and
educating them the importance of
wearing masks. We will be arranging
tests for Covid-19 diagnosis to control
the spread of Virus. If this basic help is
not done, the whole population of the
village can be wiped out with young
women and children
THE EFFECT OF CORONA VIRUS ON THESE TRIBAL PEOPLE:
These tribal people are quite oblivious to the dangers of Coronavirus. Philadelphia Community Hospital ( The
Leprosy Mission Hospital ) is situated close to their villages and have regular free clinics in their villages . The
staff of this hospital has taken up the challenge of
1) Giving Health Education on Coronavirus 2) Social distancing, although this is not practical
3) Wearing Masks 4) Hand washing, this is not practical.
Wearing the Masks: The staff has made hand stitched cloth masks for these tribal people and distributed to
them. They have been given Health Education on using mask and will be monitored regularly.

How did the Mask movement
started.

The use of masks has been there

for centuries around the world
especially in China, Japan, Korea,
however in the contest of
CORONAVIRUS the masks have
been used in the community to
prevent the spread of virus
transmitting from person to person
.
Dr.Puspa Kanthi Pal Giving Philadelphia Community Hospital
Instruction to Mrs Shoba on Mask Although there is a lot of Salur
controversy on using the masks,
almost every country advises its
population to wear masks when
they are going out.

If you are going outside you should

wear a face mask

The face mask is more about

protecting others from you, rather
than protecting yourself from
others.

Thus the face mask prevents spread

of the virus from person to person.
Mrs Vijaya & Dr Anuradha Stitching Miss Asha Leprosy Patient Helping
Masks These masks traps Coronavirus to Stitching Masks
that travel in the coughs and
sneezes that the wearer uses, thus
works as a barrier to others.

But it is also a common sense that

these masks can work as barrier to
virus coming from others to the
wearer.

India is fighting a big battle against

Coronavirus with a strong will.
India is winning although the battle
is not over yet.

The mask movement is part of the

Israelites. But there are 39 small kingdoms with kings living there with their own armies and 7 big cities to
conquer before they occupy the Promised Land.
Has God given the Israelites the strength to fulfill their destiny! They cannot win in their own strength. God
said to the Israelites in Joshua 1: 9 ‘’ Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified, do not be discouraged,
for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go’’
So are the lives problems, bringing up the children, meeting up the family expenses, solving every day crisis?
God will give us the ability to overcome these problems, but are you prepared to develop these abilities? And
use these abilities to fight and overcome lives problems?
Remember God’s promise: the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I
am with you Amen
