1. Student Patricia 2013 1. Student hostel is part of the facilities provided by the

2. The problem statement of this study is that the
facilities provided are inadequate to accommodate all
students. This will cause students to feel dissatisfied
and move on to other learning places or university.
3. This study uses the measurement of physical
characteristics of the facilities such as bedrooms,
toilets and bathrooms, other facilities and social
characteristics such as population using the facilities
and convenience of use to measure the level of
satisfaction of students with the hostel facilities
provided.
4. This study considers students' residential satisfaction
as expressed by students based on their satisfaction
with hostels in relation to their needs, needs and
experience. Whereas students' satisfaction levels are
measured based on bedrooms, bathrooms, common
rooms and other services within the hostel area.
5. The results indicate that students are dissatisfied with
the facilities provided because they feel they are
inadequate and therefore cannot meet the
requirements for the provision. The results of this
study are limited to the satisfaction of the students
with the hostel facilities provided only. However,
further studies can be conducted to investigate hostel
administration and other school facilities.

facility specifically water and electricity, followed by
overall impression of hostel, security, physical
environment, toilet, the rest.
4. It was found that kitchen facility, access to
transport and entertainment facility are less important
SAQ items while the least important is garage facility.
5. The study implies that student accommodation
providers and management of the tertiary institutions
are to focus more attention, strategy, resources and
efforts on SAQ dimension that students give more
priority to than other sin order to ensure effective and
efficient hostel accommodation services that promote
students’ learning in tertiary education in Ghana.
