Project Title : Conversion of Manual Lathe into CNC lathe by designing it on

CATIA V5R18

Team Size : Two

Description:

There are four different modules for the conversion of Manual practice lathe into CNC lathe
through designing on CATIA V5R18:
1. DESIGN OF VARIOUS COMPONENTS OF LATHE
2. ANALYSIS OF THESE COMPONENTS(stress-strain analysis, stress conc.,etc)
3. MODIFICATION(optimizing the previous design)
4. ASSEMBLY(new design)
The benefits include:
 Operations are Automated.
 Operations can be done by computer programming (using G codes & M codes)
 It need not require skilled operators.
 Parts production takes minimum time.
 Operations are far more accurate.

MY RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for the first module of the conversion project i.e. Design of various components of
Lathe on CATIA V5R18.The components designed on this mechanical software includes:
1. LATHE BED
2. HEADSTOCK (clutch, driving shaft, gear box casing,driving pulley)
3. TAILSTOCK(spindle, spindle clamp, square threaded screw, hand wheel,
tailstock clamping nut),
 4. CARRIAGE (Saddle, Cross-slide, Compound slide, tool post), etc.

In-Plant Training:

 Undergone Certified Summer Training in Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL)

Hardwar for 30 days in 2006 (end of 4th Semester)
 Undergone Certified Summer Training in ABB Faridabad for 15 days in 2007 (end of 6th
Semester)
 Undergone Certified Software Design Course in Central Institute For Tool Design
(CITD) Hyderabad for 30 days in 2007 (end of 6th Semester)
