GUIDE LINES FOR THE TERM PROJECT (Finance for Managers/IBF)

Initial submission date for IBF STUDENTS: 26 for Friday and 27th for Saturday
session.
The term report which will have to submit towards the end of semester must follow the
below mentioned criteria, if you have any confusion about the report requirements that
means that you were not serious in the class and for that you will be penalized.

You need to come in the class with the written names of the 4 group members of your
desire than the topics of the report will be assigned to you by the instructor. Just to give
an over view regarding the topics of the report, that can be about any small business
launching e.g. internet café, catering service, and prepare a feasibility report, remember
one thing that should not be the restaurant.

With initial submission following items must be included:

1. Equity
2. Bank loan

3. List of Assets
4. List of Expenses
5. Location of business place

Late submission will result in deduction of marks.

The report should have two parts one the word file and the other one will be excels.

In the word document file every information regarding the product will be given.

The report should follow double spacing with 12 pt font size any type of font is ok with
me but the text pages should not have any background. Every single information
appearing in the word document report must have a clear cut link with the excel files
provided at the end of the report.

1. Firstly you should state the purpose of making the report i.e. you want to get the
loan from the bank or to secure the business partner by providing him or her
documentary proof.
2. Secondly brief description of your project (basic idea and concept), location
(advantages and disadvantages), target market/ audience, marketing strategy (cost
leadership, focus in differentiation).
3. Your sustainable competitive advantage not just the competitive advantage.
4. Then the hierarchy of the human resources with their individual salaries.
5. SWOT analysis
6. Brief description of all the expenses the explanation of all the working and then
the possible cash flows for the next three years
7. Interpretation of the net present value of the business also the interpolated rate of
return.
8. Also the explanation of the figures and the interpretation of financial ratios to gain
plus points.
9. Conclusion.

In the excel sheet you have to provide all the necessary schedules required to make the
word document part of the report. For the support of your authenticity.

a. All the data and costing by taking into consideration fixed and current assets.
Receipts and the payment schedules etc.
b. Then the three year projected income statement (first year monthly), balance sheet
and cash budget (first year monthly).
c. Amortization tables, projected cost sheet, sources of financing, working capital
estimates, and activity based costing.
d. Appendices linked to the projections to show that how you calculated every single
figure appearing in your projections.
e. Calculations of the net present value and interpolated rate of return.
f. Scenario analysis with 10 % variation for best case and worst case from the base
case.
g. Calculations of all the ratios appearing in the word document part.
h. Referencing and materials to compile the report.

Please remember to reference clearly. The contents of the report not referenced properly
will indicate the sign of plagiarism.

Any sign of plagiarism will not just cancel your project but all the members of the
group will get F grade in project.

In the assigned session you need to be formally dressed up like you are there to convince
the financer as this is not only the practice for you for your professional life but also in
this case he will grade your report. So in order to analyze your effort the questions will be
asked to you individually 2 questions for each member. More wrong answers will result
in fewer marks for individual member and also result in deduction of group marks as this
will show lack of coordination in between the group members.
