IS IT FAIR FOR SHAKESPEARE TO OVERSHADOW CERVANTES?

In the following text we can observe personal opinions that answer the question, I hope it is
to your liking since they can refresh or acquire knowledge regarding data on these two
characters in the story, knowledge which shapes us as people and professionals in any area
of our lives.

As a first contribution I can say that Spanish and English literature could not be understood
without Cervantes' Don Quixote or Shakespeare's Hamlet. With their works, both authors
became universal references that continue to influence us. For this reason, and as a way of
paying tribute to them, for more than two decades the International Book Day has been
celebrated on this date, because both authors supposedly died on April 23.

I consider that the verbal force of Shakespeare, the subtlety and expressiveness of his
concepts, the intensity of the argument, are active in the field such as cinema and television
series, these characteristics of Shakespeare in such popular media would come to give the
English writer a relevance that it would not have reached Cervantes.

But we must not lose sight of the fact that Don Quixote becomes the base on which
eighteenth-century English novelists build the genre of the novel and I consider that it is not
overshadowed, because each one has its characteristics in its environment.

We can conclude that each of these characters and their works were a solid basis for the
genesis of theater, film and television and also for future writers and apprentices, despite
the tributes they have paid to each one in their different countries, It is totally independent
from the teachings infused by the aforementioned, I think that the Spanish government
should use methods by which they give more importance to the teaching of Cervantes, and
to pay tribute in an even more dynamic way, since it is very important in the Spanish
language and else.

As a conclusion we can say that both are excellent writers, and they are considered the best
in the English and Spanish languages respectively, and the truth is that it is difficult to
decide which of the two is the best since they both have that special touch in their writings,
Shakespeare. With Romeo and Julieta and Cervantes with Don Quixote, they are both
incredible, one of the best writers in all of human history, fortunate for working on those
solid foundations
