Introduction to the Lesson/Hook:

I will start the timer for 10 minutes for MicroType. When I click the bell this means that you have about 5

minutes to wrap up your tab. If you are completed open your google classroom and wait patiently. Do not move

onto the assignment.

In front of you will find an important historical figure. This person will be yours for the week. You will

understand who, what, when, where, and why they have played an important role in black history. Raise your

hand if you know this person in front of you. Can you tell me the name of this person? What did they do? How

are they remembered?

Higher Order Thinking (HOT) Questions:

February is Black History Month, a celebration of the accomplishments made by members of the

African-American community. I have compiled a list of the 25 most-searched African Americans and you will

create an infographic of these men and women.

For this assignment you will create an infographic of the person that is displayed over your monitor. If

you are confused the number on your monitor corresponds to the picture that will be showed on your google

classroom. You cannot switch people. The people that you have are the people that you will create an

infographic for. Let’s get started with developing our research. Before you begin your infographic I need to see

that you have done your research. You cannot move on till I have checked that you have completed the research

for your person. Once you have completed the research I will let you continue to create your infographic. Le’s

go over what needs to be on your infographic.

To begin:

1. Click: https://www.canva.com/login

2. Log in with your google account

3. Click: Student

4. At the end it should bring you to the canva homepage where your name should appear on the left

hand side of the website

5. Click: Create a design

6. Scroll: Choose infographic

7. Follow the rubric that is attached to “Create an Infographic”
