BASIC FINANCE
TERM PAPER
The Basic Finance course presents the principles of financial management for short- and long-
term planning that includes topics relevant to decision making and essential to the financial
condition of the enterprise.
To broaden your understanding and appreciation of the course learning you will prepare a Term
Paper on financial institutions, particularly large universal or commercial banks in the country.
The term paper evaluates the universal or commercial banks in the following areas:

a. Business Model
b. Market Outlook
c. Strategy and Performance
4. Economic Performance
5. Social Performance
6. Environmental Performance
7. Corporate Governance
2. Each group will select the universal / commercial bank, through a blind selection process
one of the following universal / commercial banks:
a. At the time of selection of financial institution, the group members will be registered.
b. One member of the team will participate in the Lucky Draw for the designated
bank.
c. No changes in the team members will be allowed after registration.
4. DATE FOR FINAL SUBMISSION OF TERM PAPER: Midnight April 20, 2020,
Monday. The final term paper shall be sent to jvlcamus@mapua.edu.ph.
a. In addition to the submission of the term paper, each group will present their group
work to the class in a PowerPoint Presentation
b. The PowerPoint Presentation will be considered in final grade for the Term Paper.
c. DATE FOR PRESENTATION OF TERM PAPER: EXPECTED DATE April
22, 2020 from 1:30 am to 3:00 PM.
[We shall endeavor to hold the presentation on site in the classroom conditions
permitting]
5. TERM PAPER FORMAT. The term paper will be submitted using the following format:

The research paper contains accurate information from credible source. These
sources should be timely and contain current information on the topic. The paper
should be written in your own words. Copying from a source without proper
citation is PLAGIARISM.

6. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: The term paper and the presentation of the term paper
shall represent 15% of your final grade. One grade for each team. Each team member will
receive the group grade.
