1-It is the process of sending an e-mail from one computer to another.

2-

 Stuffing the e-mail message through a modem on a dial-up.

 Our message arrives at computer’s run by ISP or network administrator.
 An e-mail message is sent to an outgoing server computer.
 The SMTP computer shoves the message.
 Our data is divided into numerous packets.
 Routers monitor the packet and send to other routers.
 The packet reaches the destination ISP computer. There it meets the other packets and is
reconstituted into original message.
 The POP3 server sends the messages on down to the e-mail client program through the
modem/phone line or network card/network connection.
 A noise might play, indicating the new mail in your friend’s inbox.

3- It can get somewhat complicated out there, but the basic steps are easy enough to understand.

4- First one is to stuff the e-mail message through a modem on a dial-up. And, the second one is to
convert the e-mail message into a form that can be stuffed through the available medium. With dial-
up connections, the modem must transform your computer’s digital code into the analog noises that
can be transmitted over phone lines.

5- A packet is a small amount of data sent over a network, such as a LAN or the Internet. Routers
monitor the flow of packets around the system, read the destination information in each packet, and
send it to the next router. Depending on how free of problems, the packet reaches the destination
ISP computer. There it meets with the other packets.

6- There is a metaphor in this sentence. The aim of using this metaphor is to state that the tasks of a
cop and a router are quite same. The cops monitor the people or cars, how they behave or if they do
any wrong things on the streets. On the other hand, the routers monitor the packets and detect the
possible problems on the internet system.

7- If one of the routers do not work, then the packet is sent on a more circuitous path. Other routers
encountering the packet perform the same service.

8- I believe that the luck is more important. The author includes luck as a factor in this step of
process because there is always a possibility for routers not to work correctly. If there is a mistake
about their work, it takes much more time to do the process. Due to the fact that it is not certain
when the routers do not work, it is all about chance and luck.

9- As everybody knows, only living creatures has a life to live. However, when we look at the title, we
can clearly see that e-mail has a life, as well. There is a life cycle of humans. They are born, grow up,
become an elderly person, and die as the time passes. In the same way, e-mail has a life cycle. It is
written, sent, read and eventually deleted. Other methods of personifications,

A) Paragraph 5: Here they bid adieu to one another, promising to meet one day.
B) Paragraph 6: Routers are the traffic cops of the internet, monitoring the flow of packets
around the system. They read the destination information in each packet… Other routers
encountering the packet perform the same service.
C) Paragraph 7: There it meets its brothers and sister packets from back home…
D) Paragraph 8: So, goes the life for internet data.
10- Actually, I found this article interesting because the author makes the complex process easier to
understand by using the method of personification. These methods are quite useful and helpful for
me to understand complex articles. That’s why I loved it.
