EDSA People power Revolution (Age of Revolution)

The EDSA People power Revolution accumulated praises for it did not showed that with
the power of standing together as a nation could be throw a dictator and a tyrant. This
revolution is also praised for its so-called blood-less revolution, it happened in 25 th day of
February 1986, wheret thousands of people flocked the area, armed with only prayers and
rosaries in their hands. Chanting words of freedom, singing songs of nationalism, and crying for
the end of oppression. This bloodless revolution yields to the returned democracy of the
country.

This kind of event was driven by a group of elites who felt like they have become ‘losers’
and therefore were the key drivers of the revolution. It aims to end the abuses executed by the
Marcos government, to cite several events like human rights violation since the tyrannical
Martial Law Proclamation in 1972. In the years that followed the Martial Law is then
proclaimed, putting the whole country in his absolute power and under the military rule. A new
constitution has been formed, yet lacks from provisions of social justice and human rights, still
pursued for his selfish desires. Marcos wants no oppositions. Persons who are against him are
arrested, put to jail and in worst cases, persecuted.

During this time Ferdinand Marcos also make some manipulations on the terrain of
media industry. He established a mass media control because as we all know media can reach,
connect, and inform millions of viewers, listeners, readers, and audiences in a period of time.
That why he manipulates the media so that he can create himself a wholesome image and
make it appear that there is nothing wrong with the country and the government and knowing
that the press is paralyzed, the people are left ignorant to the real situation of the country.
However, despite of these things happened Filipinos were brave in heart and mind some media
station still do fighting for their right but unfortunately it resulted only them (Editors and
journalists)being arrested and incarcerated in military prison camps.

Thinking of the oppressive doings of the late president on that time burse up the
Filipinos to fight and one of the most remarkable catalyst that makes theFilipinos reached the
height of their patience is when former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, Sr. was shot and killed
at the airport in August 21, 1983, upon his return to the Philippines from exile in the United
States. His grieving wife, Corazon Cojuangco Aquino showed the Filipinos and the world the
strength and courage to claim back the democracy and encouraged the people to oust and
arrest the late president Ferdinand Marcos for his personal caprice. And the things that make it
happened is EDSA People Power Revolution 1 which is the most remarkable that shows that
democracy in the country was totally restored and the people won its trophy fighting for the
freedom that they deserved. After this long bloodless battle Filipinos opened a new world, a
new change. Media unmasked the tape in their silent. Radio, TV, and newspapers returned to
activities. It was the time when tabloids everywhere throughout the nation developed.
Furthermore, comics and soap operas showed up as amusement medium in the country.

In this kind of event it taught us, Filipinos to elect the right persons for public service. As
the Philippine Constitution in Article XI states that, "A public office is a public trust." However
we can’t sill deny that late President Marcos had done a lot of good deeds in the country but
because his selfish desires it resulted bringing him down. As the country experienced a
pandemic health crisis today, I think that maybe it is the time for us to evaluate our public
officials from the highest to the lowest are public servants. They must at all times be
accountable to the people safe, serve us with utmost responsibility, loyalty, integrity, honesty
and efficiency, act with patriotism and justice and lead modest lives.
