MIKASA COSMETICS LIMITED, incorporated in the year 2006, was setup to service the needs of
leading retailers and marketing houses in the field of Cosmetics & Toiletries across the globe. It has
been established by a group of entrepreneurs having several years of practical experience in
Development as well as in the Manufacture of Cosmetic & Toiletry products.

We undertake CRAMS (Contract Research & Manufacturing Services) for companies marketing their
own products, and also to successful retailers selling PRIVATE LABELS in their outlets. Outsourcing,
as a concept, has come to stay, with business houses preferring to focus on marketing and leaving the
creative job to companies like Mikasa.

Our Corporate office & the Research Laboratory are located at Chennai, a metropolitan city south of
India. Chennai is the capital city of Tamilnadu, one of the developed states of India known for its rich

The research wing, MIKASA R&D, established in the year 2006, offers a blend of Science &
Business in the Personal Care segment. The product range includes all types of Shampoos, Creams &
Lotions, Hair oil, Hair Gel, Depilatories, Talc etc apart from Alcoholic Perfumes.
The various activities of MIKASA R&D cover Research, Product development, Analytical &
Microbiological evaluations, Product evaluation including market research etc. Mikasa R&D also
focuses on HERBAL Research for the inclusion of NATURALS in the formulations.
The research laboratory is complete with infrastructure such as Pilot Plants for all its product range,
and also backed up by experienced technical staff.

Mikasa R&D, a division of Mikasa Cosmetics Limited was established in 2006 and is a full fledged
state-of-the-art R&D Centre at Chennai, India. Mikasa R&D has been actively working on Skin
Care & Hair Care segments of Cosmeticology . It has been active in other fields of cosmetic
formulations viz., Henna, Henna Fixatives, functional Powder and Foot care products, Toiletries, etc. It
is poised for initiating work in Oral Care and Colour Cosmetics also
There are four sub divisions viz., Development, Analytical, Microbiology and Evaluation at Mikasa
R&D. Formulations are arrived at with careful considerations of do-good-ingredients and their levels
in suitable bases by the Development section with cost-effectiveness on one hand and maximum
delivery of functional benefits on the other. The Development section is backed by strong Analytical
section to arrive at quality to render maximum functional benefits to consumers and sturdy products
resistant to the vagaries of seasons and storage conditions. The products are well preserved and claim-
substantiated with a back-up by a well equipped Microbiology laboratory . The product claims are
further substantiated with the help of numerous stages of evaluations by both in-house and actual
consumers carried out by Consumer Evaluation section . The laboratory is well equipped with
Temperature Chambers to carry out Stability Testing Programmes to ensure consumer satisfaction.
The R&D Centre has taken up an exhaustive approach in development of Herbal Extractions that are
useful for skin care and hair care products.

for offering Research & Development Services and is capable of handling Contract / Collaborative
Research for specific Functional Objectives for cosmetic products. Furnished with the latest
Instruments and Equipments in the field of spectroscopy, chromatography and other physico-
chemical measurement systems in the Analytical section it can offer a wide range of chemical analysis.

SOURCING

Consumer Research

The Evaluation Section has an established rapport with consumers spread in the city of Chennai,
India across Households, Parlours, Hotels, Colleges and Institutions covering an age group of 15 to
65 years with a demography from low to high income. It has a rich experience of conducting
evaluations with consumers on hair care and skin care products. Evaluations are carried out both in
vivo and in vitro and clinical and instrumental in co-ordination with Microbiology.

At Mikasa, Packaging Development is an Art; Innovation and Creativity are the two mantras

The Packaging organization consists of two teams:

Graphic section: Consists of a Art studio with highly experienced & knowledgeable graphic designers
supported by Draughts men and assistants

Technical section: Comprises of personnel from Indian Institute of Packaging, who take care of the
structural ,technical and implementation aspects of Packaging

latest in the industry

MANUFACTURING

MANUFACTURING facility at Kandla, Gujarat in the Special Economic Zone meant for exports. The
state-of-the-art facility is set up at a prime location with in the zone at an area of 3300 sq.m.
The facility includes manufacture of Alcoholic perfumes (Capacity 2 to 5 Tons/Day in 2 shifts),
Creams/lotions/Gels ( 4 Tons/Day in 2 shifts) and Shampoos ( 6 Tons/Day in 2 shifts). The filling
sections are air conditioned, while flame proof equipments are installed in the Alcoholic Perfume
manufacturing area.
Alcohol storage capacity is about 30,000 liters which could be scaled up later.
The other utilities includes Boiler for steam generation, Chillers for both Cream as well as alcoholic
perfume manufacture, Air compressors for pneumatic operation of equipment, Demineralising plant for
water softening, Stackers, Pallet trucks & fork lift for material handling.

Alcoholic Perfumes: Separate facility for manufacturing alcoholic perfumes with all safety features like
flame proof equipment etc

Manufacturing facility for Creams/Gels/Lotions: 1 ton capacity Contra rotary mixer with built-in
variable speed homogenizer coupled with vacuum arrangement suitable for any Creams/Gels/Lotions
Shampoo/Hair oil facility: 2 ton capacity reactor with support vessels for dispersion of conditioners etc.

Filling machinery comprises of tube filling & sealing, container or jar filling, volumetric liquid filling,
vacuum filling for perfumes, ink jet coding, shrink wrapping etc

Talcum powder manufacturing is located slightly away from the main factory in a dedicated facility to
avoid any cross contamination. Installed manufacturing capacity is 1 ton
