AT THE NIGHT MARKET

 READING You will read some conversations at The Night Market and answer the questions
through complete and grammatically correct sentences.

1. Maya: Hi Ming, Stig and I are at the night market in Taiwan. I would like a baseball cap. They’re
only 2 dollars.
Ming: That’s cool. I would like one too. Could you buy a red one for me?

2. Maya: Hi mom, look at these DVD’s at the night market. They’re cheap. They are only 10 dollars.
Would you like one?
Mom: Yes! I would like Harry Potter and Curious George.

3. Maya: Hi Nadine. We’re at a night market in Taiwan. Stig loves this noodles soup. I would like it
too. It’s only 1 Dollar.
Nadine: I would like that soup too. It’s really good.

4. Me: Look at this fun game. It’s 3 dollars only. I would like this game a lot.
Ming: Oh, that’s very cool.

 LET’S GO SHOPPING! You will participate in a role-play with a classmate. You and your
classmate are buying and selling items in a store. One is the seller or shop assistant (you own
and manage a nice store in town and you are selling items) and the other one is the customer
(you are shopping for different clothing and accessories, you need to ask a price for each of
the following items). Make sure you use the shopping language and expressions studied in
your conversation. Ask for at least three items from each store. Use the conversation model to
help you organize your ideas.
