FAMILIES
Welcome to a new school year. I am very
excited for all the wonderful things we are
going to accomplish together in the lives of our
third grade students.
Welcome to THIRD GRADE! It’s
going to be a great year!
This summer I have been anticipating and
working hard preparing to welcome our third
graders to this new school year. I am excited
that we are in a brand new building this year
with all the resources needed to help your
student grow academically as well as socially. I
look forward to providing your sudent with an
academically challenging classroom and a safe
environment for asking questions, being
curious, and developing friendships.
ACADEMICS
This week we will be working on Unit 1
Foundations of a Number. During this unit
Students extend their understanding of the
thousands period to include the ten thousands
and hundred thousands places.
Content Objectives: Pictorial and
expanded form, Place Value system
as a multiple of 10, Comparing and
ordering numbers up to 1,200
Along with learning about place value we will be
practicing, practicing, practicing our classroom
procedures. The procedures of our room are
important to help students gain independence
and control of their learning. Students will be
expected to come to class on time, start work
independently, and follow our daily schedule
which will be posted in our room and kept
consistent to allow students to anticipate what
we will be doing each day.
REMINDERS
Students will be bringing many forms home this
week. Please be sure to sign the forms. One
form is a media release form. Please sign and
return this form as soon as possible. The school
uses pictures for the yearbook, school website,
etc. and I would like to be able to post pictures
of the activities that we are working on in class
to our school website so you have a place to see
that your student is doing at school.
THE WEEK AHEAD
The week ahead will be full of procedures and
and continuing to expand our knowledge of
place value. Next week will will extend on what
we learned this week by working on expanded
form introducing the symbal ( X ).
Next Friday we will have our first Unit Test
comvering the material from the first and
second week.

We are gathering our list of parent volunteers.

Please send me a message if you would like to
be a parent wolunteer this year. You can
volunteer for a number of events that we will
be having this year. You can help out with as
much or as little as you like. I look forward to
seeing everyone and working with our parents
to help our students have a great year!
