Title: Naughty Kitty Cat Grade Level: 2nd Grade
Source: The Singing Classroom

Materials needed:
A picture of a cat
Finger cymbals (or a spoon and a glass)
Hand drums (or a pot to bang on)
Shakers (or a medicine bottle filled with pebbles)

Procedure:

A.S: What sound does a cat make? What kinds of things do cats do that
would be “naughty”?

1. In this song, our kitty cat is naughty for eating the butter and getting it on
his whiskers. Let’s learn the song: (repeat after me)
Naughty kitty cat
You are very fat
You have butter on your whiskers
Naughty kitty cat
2. When you teach the song, hold up the picture of the cat on the pauses and
make a meow noise.
3. Once the class has learned the song and where all of the pauses are, star t
to incorporate the instruments
4. Instead of making a meow noise in the pauses, play the instrument during
the pause. Take turns switching between the instruments.
Closure:
What noises did we make to create the kitty’s meow? Why was the kitty
called “naughty” in the song?
