UNIFORM ACCELERATED MOTION

 Uniform Accelerated Motion

- when an object maintains a constant change in its velocity at a given time along a
straight path.

 4 GENERAL EQUATIONS
V i+V
1. d= ( ) 2
f
t

a t2
2. d=v i t+
2
3. v f =v i +at
4. v f ² =v i ² +2 ad

 Exercises:
1. Michael is riding in his scooter at velocity of 80 km/hr, when he sees an old woman crossing
the road 45m away. He immediately steps hard on the brakes to get the maximum
deceleration of 7.5 m/s². How far will he go before stopping? Will he hit the old woman?

2. A jeepney from rest accelerates over a time of 3.25 seconds and covers a distance of 15m.
Determine the acceleration of the jeepney.

3. A car from rest accelerates 10 m/s² for 10 seconds.

Calculate:
a) the distance covered by the car
b) the final velocity at the end of 10 seconds
Types of Motion Behavior of Quantities Equation

1. OBJECT AT REST  Displacement is constant  d=constant

 Velocity is zero (0)  v=0
 Acceleration is zero (0)  a=0

2. UNIFORM MOTION OR  Displacement is increasing  d=vt

CONSTANT VELOCITY or decreasing  v=constant
 Velocity is constant d V +V i
 v= or V ave = f
 Acceleration is zero (0) t 2
 a=0

3. UNIFORM ACCELERATED
 Displacement is increasing V i+V
MOTION (UAM)
or decreasing  d= ( ) 2
f
t
 Velocity is increasing or a t2
decreasing  d=v i t+
2
 Acceleration is constant  v f =v i +at
 v f ² =v i ² +2 ad

 Exercise (Derive):

1. Derive acceleration from the equation: v f ² =v i ² +2 ad

a t2
2. Derive time from the equation: d=v i t+ , given that vi =0.
