This Week's Speaking Challenge

This week we have been talking about travel. Your task is to

speak with the other sisters about a favourite place you have
been to. It can be a place near your home so don't worry if you
haven't ever travelled far!
Try to talk to at least three other members in the pod. You can talk on Messenger, WhatsApp, Zoom ...whatever
you like - but you do have to SPEAK please - no text chatting allowed:). Use the notes on the next page to help you
prepare for your conversations.

This is a speaking challenge - you don't have to write a single word on this page if you don't want to!

Grammar notes
1. Think a little about how to construct questions in English BEFORE you talk with your
speaking sisters. Have a look at the examples above and try making some questions of your
own following the same pattern.

2. Many verbs in this exercise will be in the simple past tense. Before you start , think about how
you would answer the questions and think about any irregular verbs you might need.

3. I should have + past participle

I wish I had + past participle

Communication strategy - short answer + extra information

For this speaking challenge - try to use this formula whenever someone asks you a question. Give a
short answer and then add some extra supporting information. Sometimes when we are speaking a
new language, we just stop with the short answer and it makes conversation a bit slow and
difficult. Give a little extra information in your answers. This makes it easier for your speaking
partner to think of more questions to ask you.
