Overview of Hollande's Vocational Personality

Strengthen your career well-being with a career or major that fits your personality.

According to Hollande most people are one of six personality

types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. Some refer to
these as Holland Codes or RIASEC.

People search for environments where they can use their skills and abilities and express their
values and attitudes. For example, Investigative types search for Investigative environments;
Artistic types look for Artistic environments, and so forth.

People who choose to work in an environment similar to their personality type are more likely
to be successful and satisfied.

A person is classified as a Persuader when he or she is mostly interested in jobs that involve
leading or influencing other people (what Holland called the Enterprising interest).
Persuaders are typically energetic, dominant people who like to be powerful and
motivational.

Persuading jobs involve leading, motivating, and influencing others. Persuaders like
working in positions of power to make decisions and carry out projects.

As a Persuader, you are driven to lead, influence, motivate, and direct other people. You
are interested in making your mark on the world by impacting the perspectives and
decisions of others. You enjoy feeling powerful and important, and want to lead the
way.

Most Persuaders enjoy a certain amount of risk in their work.

Most Persuaders dislike working in isolation. They like to team up with others to complete
projects and achieve organizational goals.
