CONCEPTUALIZAREA ŞI MANIFESTAREA
SINDROMULUI DE BURNOUT ÎN MEDIUL MILITAR
PROFESIONAL
Iulia IURCHEVICI1
This paper represents a theoretical and descriptive approach of exploring the con-
cept of bornout and its manifestation in the professional military environment. The
bornout syndrome, considered a public health problem, represents an advanced stage
of stress at the workplace. The most affected by the „century syndrome” are intelligent
people, highly motivated and ambitious, that are involved a lot during the work time.
Out of the the desire to assert themselves or the passion for what they do, they make
great efforts, they work a lot overtime, and this behavior affects their personal life. The
burnout syndrome manifests itself by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and re-
duced professional accomplishment and may cause total failure and/ or permanent one
to resume the activity. This paper highlights the causes of this problem (causes related to
work, causes related to lifestyle, causes related to personality type) which tend to turn
into a global phenomenon that affects all categories of workers; the manifestation of
stress in the military environment; its effects both on the individual and on organiza-
tion, the stages of this process(the ideal enthusiasm, inefficient stagnation, frustration,
apathy full of disappointment), and also some benchmarks of anti-burnout conduct.
