OBJECTIVE
-Build a circuit containing an ALU and an accumulator, and program the ALU to perform
various arithmetic and logic functions.
-Thru specific input conditions, predict the results from ALU.
-Use an ALU too design and build a 4-bit adder with an overflow indicator.
WIRES: Electrical wiring is an electrical installation of cabling and associated devices such as
switches, distribution boards, sockets and light fittings in a structure.
Breadboard: a solderless device for temporary prototype with electronics and test circuit designs.
Most electronic components in electronic circuits can be interconnected by inserting their leads
or terminals into the holes and then making connections through wires where appropriate.
555 timer is an integrated circuit (chip) used in a variety of timer, pulse generation, and oscillator
applications. The 555 can be used to provide time delays, as an oscillator, and as a flip-flop
element. Derivatives provide two (556) or four (558) timing circuits in one package.
CAPACITORS (0.02uF, and 1uF capacitors): a device used to store an electric charge, consisting
of one or more pairs of conductors separated by an insulator.
Led: A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light source that emits light when current
flows through it. Electrons in the semiconductor recombine with electron holes, releasing energy
in the form of photons.
Push-button: a button that is pushed to operate an electrical device.
Power supply (5V): A power supply is an electrical device that supplies electric power to an
electrical load. The primary function of a power supply is to convert electric current from a
source to the correct voltage, current, and frequency to power the load.
74175 IC (D Flip Flop): The D flip-flop is an edge triggered device which transfers input data to
Q on clock rising or falling edge.
74181 IC (ALU): The 74181 is a bit slice arithmetic logic unit, implemented as a 7400 series
TTL integrated circuit. The first complete ALU on a single chip, it was used as the
arithmetic/logic core in the CPUs of many historically significant minicomputers and other
devices.
Clock: Digital signal that has an equal time duration of high and low pulses and is specified as a
reference that is offered to a digital signal set/rest.
