Introduce and contextualize the artifact

1. Describe the assignment/project:

What was the task that you were asked to do?
I was asked to choose one of the three options and answer the question’ “Which one do you
believe is the main cause of violence.”
What were the concepts that you were supposed to learn?
I suppose to learn how to write an argument essay and state why it causes violence and learn how
to follow directions by supporting my essay and using the rubric.
What were the steps you took to complete the assignment?
The steps I took were to complete the assignment. I did a rough draft on my topic and
brainstorming ideas on how I want my essay to look at and we did an outline to make sure we
were organized on the essay.

2. What category does this artifact represent (i.e. analysis, problem solving, community
engagement, etc.)?
This artifact represents a community situation on how violence is specially in society.
How do you define the category above?
This category talks about how the main cause of violence is the environment and the
three main reasons are bad environment at home, drug addict something to do with rape and
traumatized something to do with a past that very hard for people.
How does this category relate to your artifact?
It relates to the artifact because its a problem in our society on why its an main cause of
violence and it reflects on people that are violent to people and themselves.

3. Which district graduate profile and/or pathway learning outcomes did you demonstrate in this
artifact (Advanced Skills, Involved Citizenship, or Marketable Readiness)?
I had demonstrated this artifact is the marketable readiness and how it demonstrated my
understanding on the cause of violence.
How do you define this outcome?
I define this outcome because it showed how violence is a “problem” in our community
and having evidence supporting my reasons upon this problem.

How does this outcome relate to your artifact?

 It relates to this artifact because it's a society problem and no one is taking in
consideration to help these kids stop becoming violence and so by writing an essay on
community violence shows what's going on in our society.

4. Applying the knowledge and skills:

Describe how the knowledge and skills you acquired apply to life outside of school.
I would apply to outside of school by helping others and get the help they need.
Describe how the knowledge and skills you acquired will help with your future plans.
I would take care of myself and not let others put me down or stand in my way. I will not
let others affect my emotions and not give up on myself.

Reflect on your challenges and growth

5. What were the challenges that you encountered?

The challenge I encountered was that I kept repeating myself and not stating my thesis
correctly towards the end of the essay and I was putting too much information instead just stating
the facts.
6. What were the strengths that you demonstrated?
My thesis and concluding sentence were good and strong on the community violence and
having good supporting evidence and back up my thesis when I did my rebuttal against the
counterargument.
7. What do you still need to improve in the future?
I need to reread my essays and make sure they are good and start stating the facts on the
topics instead adding a whole definition on the topic and just get to the point.
