Pre-Requisite General and Inorganic Chemistry; Introduction to Pharmacy
Synopsis Rationale: This course covers pharmaceutical inorganic chemistry, an area of study concerned with
essential and non-essential elements, metal ions, metal complexes and radiopharmaceuticals with their
clinical applications.

Focus: The course highlights the fundamental knowledge and concepts of pharmaceutical inorganic
chemistry on those official with USP/NF, their preparation, properties, tests, uses and applications to
diagnosis and therapy. The laboratory course includes the principles and concepts for qualitative analysis
of ions & inorganic compounds and the preparation, uses and confirmatory tests involved in the official
USP/NF inorganic compounds.

Outcomes: Demonstrate creative applications of concepts and methods of pharmacy practice geared
towards the advancement of various fields of pharmacy. The common laboratory operations and
techniques will train the students and reinforce their learnings with the chemical concepts and principles by
the practice of the scientific method through hands-on experimentation.
