Activity Type Introduction

listening and speaking common expressions of irritation.

Procedure
Language Focus Write the eight expressions from the worksheet on the board.
Expressions of irritation
Explain the meaning of each response and give some examples of
how these expressions are used.
Aim
Do something annoying like making a loud noise.
To answer questions
using common Ask students a 'Does it bother you when...?' question, e.g. 'Does

Have the students respond using the eight expressions.

Then, discuss what other things bother the students in their daily

next to the question on the worksheet.

Encourage the students to also ask follow-up questions to gain


more information, e.g. 'What do you usually do when someone...?'

This continues until all the questions have been asked and
answered.

Afterwards, have the students report back to the class on their


partner's irritations.
