Propose a business venture from your field of study and carry out an industry analysis

With the Zimbabwean economy rapidly decaying, there have been rampant increases in theft
incidents. A report published by Safeguard through the NewZimbabwe.com for a survey
carried out in Harare and Bulawayo suggested that “The items chiefly targeted by robbers and
thieves in the June incidents were money (20 percent), personal belongings (18 percent),
business equipment (12 percent), personal laptops (10 percent) and cellphone (eight
percent).” This has resulted in people fearing that they may lose their priceless possessions.
In order to aid in cellphone recovery we as G4 Softwares are releasing Blue Track, a mobile
phone tracking system with biometric (fingerprint) capabilities. Blue Track is compatible
with all touch screen phones and allows the user to register a number of authorized users of
the phone. Blue Track also allows registering of third parties who can be notified
automatically in the event that an unregistered finger print pattern is censored. The software
is supported by both the Android operating system as well as Apple’s IOS. In its operations
Blue Track makes use of the Global Positioning System (GPS) to locate and find the missing
cellphone.

As things stand in Zimbabwe only a few operators offer phone tracking services with GTEL
at the height of such practises. It is however important to note that the services that are
provided rather expensive since the operators make use of expensive hardware implants.
Tracking services offered by GTEL are exclusive reserved for the cellphone they produce and
it is not every phone from the GTEL brand that comes with such a feature. Under the present
prevailing conditions Blue Track is expected to thrive because as things stand competition is
relatively low since the motor vehicle tracking business is the one with most competitors.
Since Blue Track is easily accessible by everyone and anyone with a smart phone it has a big
chance of standing its ground and successfully compete with GTEL’s tracking system.

Since the turn of the decade there has been an increase in the number of people graduating in
the School of Information and Communication and Technology (ICT) related programs. The
Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) highlighted that it produced 274 graduates under its
School of Information Science and Technology between 2016 and 2018 through the
publication of the Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Graduation Ceremony handbooks. These
graduates have the ability to become the developers of our software. With a very large list of
software developers to choose from we have a greater likelihood of incurring quite low
production cost since the available manpower base is quite packed and overloaded.

Demand for Blue Track is likely to be high since it supports both the Android and IOS
operating system. An increase in the number of cellphone theft incidents will most certainly
cause many people to get recovery options in place in case of theft or if the phone gets lost.
The Safeguard report published through the NewZimabwe.com highlighted that “The items
chiefly targeted by robbers and thieves in the June incidents were money (20 percent),
personal belongings (18 percent), business equipment (12 percent), personal laptops (10
percent) and cellphone (eight percent)” so we can be certain that our product will most
certainly attract a large market base. A large market base will cause us to acquire
considerably high profits because very little promotion strategies like discounts and price
lowering techniques will be used.

Blue Track faces a small likelihood of being replaced by customers. As things stand many
tracking software are compatible with the current setup in Zimbabwe thus outsourcing for
alternative measures is highly unlikely. A great deal of software provided by Western or
European powers works best under their geographical areas of influence. It is however
important to note that Blue Track’s greatest rival the Anti-Theft System gives the number of
the sim card in use in the event that the original one is changed with another so people may
opt to use the system as it is a bit cheaper than Blue Track
