On May 13, 2020, at approximately 2:55 PM, the Madison Police

Department received numerous calls of an assault that had

occurred on and around Grandview Boulevard near the Sam’s Club

store. Several officers were dispatched to the scene. Upon

arrival in the area, officers learned that a male subject,

driving a white 2010 white Ford sedan, had assaulted a female

acquaintance in the area. The female victim was located and

given aid by officers. Other officers located the suspect in the

suspect’s vehicle proceeding north on Grandview Boulevard.

Upon attempting to stop the suspect’s vehicle the suspect fled in

the vehicle. Police officers pursued the suspect from Grandview

Boulevard onto Highway 463 and north onto Interstate 55. As the

vehicle pursuit continued north on Interstate 55, deputies from

the Madison County Sheriff’s Office joined the pursuit. Officers

and deputies continued the pursuit north on Interstate 55 when at

mile marker 130 the suspect attempted to pass a truck on the left

shoulder of the roadway. The suspect’s vehicle made contact with

the truck at which time the suspect vehicle entered the center

median losing control. The suspect exited the vehicle and fled

into a wooded area. A Police K9 from the Madison Police

Department as well as the Madison County Sheriff’s Office were

deployed into the wooded area by their handlers. A short time

later the suspect was apprehended without incident. Orlando

Taylor, age 31, of Lexington, MS was charged with Domestic

Violence, Felony Fleeing, and numerous traffic violations. He is

currently being housed at the Madison County Detention Center

awaiting his initial court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.

There were no injuries to the suspect or others as a result of

pursuit. The victim was treated and released for minor injuries

by Madison Fire and Pafford EMS paramedics.
