Careers Statement

The Creative Media Sector has a wide range of Industries made up of, television, film, radio,
interactive media, video games development, photo imaging, press, marketing and
advertising. These industries continually overlap crating a wide range of jobs for people and
creating jobs for people over multiple industries and allowing each area to work with each
other.

Why I am interested in working in the Creative Media Sector:

The first reason I believe this would be a good line of work for me is the versatility of the
industries within this sector, because if I only chose one role, I could get a job in multiple
industries from it due to the overlap.

Secondly, income in this industry is quite high in this sector with many people who are new
to the industry making quite large salaries, for example the average starting salary of a
graduate is £30,000 when working for large employers.

Thirdly, in the UK the Creative Media Sector has the largest growing industries in the
country currently with many opportunities for new people and experienced people in the
area of work with more and more opportunities opening up every year with no sign of this
growth slowing down.

Fourthly, there has been a great increase in smaller independent production companies
growth which is good news if I was planning to start my own company in the future,
knowing that I would still have the opportunity to grow a company and not be
overshadowed by the large and established companies in the industry.

Fifthly, huge productions like Star Wars (Disney) and Game of Thrones (HBO) being filmed in
Northern Ireland has created a big spotlight on the country in the industries, meaning that
the productions of these internationally known shows has shown off the location to other
industry giants, meaning if a large company likes the area they may start production here
creating opportunities for people with media roles in northern Ireland to work with large
companies from home.

Finally, the industry would allow me to both work from home and the area I live in, would
let me temporarily travel to places for work and would allow me to move nearly anywhere
in the world and still be able to start working as the industry is so large and diverse there is
almost certainly a media job opportunity nearby you at any given location.

Overall from what I have stated above I believe that the creative media sector would be a
great area to work in if not the best in the world at the moment due to the huge growth the
sector gains every year with no signs of slowing down in the near future. The sector is the
most promising to work in in the world right now.
