Caterpillar to Butterfly Poem

A caterpillar crawls along (crawl on the floor on your belly)

He creeps and creeps and creeps. (pretend to eat big leaves!)
He goes into his chrysalis. (make big circles with your hands)
And then he goes to sleep. (pretend to sleep)
Big changes happen in his chrysalis. (still sleeping)
He wakes up by and by. (start to wake up)
He stretches his new wings (slowly stretch your arms)
Now he is a butterfly! (Time to fly!)
-Religion: This week we are going to talk about the power and importance of prayer. Prayer is a
special way we talk to GOD, Jesus, Mary, one of the Saints, or Angels. We can pray for many
different reasons or on different occasions. We can pray at church, in our homes, at school,
before we eat, before we go to bed, when we get up, or even when we’re sad. I know people
who pray to Saints such as St. Anthony when they’re looking for something, or to a Saint to ask
that Saint to talk to GOD to help your prayer get answered. No matter where we are, we can
pray and GOD will always hear us. Just like GOD knew where Jonah was when he tried to hide
from GOD, GOD always knows where we are. Since GOD is the creator and ruler of the world,
we should pray to Him at least once a day to “thank” Him for all He has given us, to say “hi” to
HIM, or just to tell HIM about our day.
The “Our Father” prayer is a special prayer we say when we want to talk to GOD, and by saying
this prayer we worship and honor HIM.

-Religion: We pray before we eat to say “thank you” to GOD for the food we have to eat. When
talking about the food prayer, your child can remember Day 3 of the Bible story of “The
Creation” where GOD gave us the land to grow food for us to eat.

“thank” HIM for the wonderful day HE has given us. We can say the traditional familiar
bedtime prayer “Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep”, or you can say your own prayer. Even if we
say our own prayer, it is still talking to GOD and HE loves it. Below is the traditional night time
prayer, and I also have a video clip of a child saying their own prayer to GOD.

-Religion: Learning More about the word “Praise”! When we pray to GOD we love Him,
worship Him, and praise Him. Our love for GOD should be so strong that we use the word
“praise” to show we admire HIM and love HIM in the biggest way possible. GOD made this
beautiful world for us, and gave us all the things we need to help our lives be better, and we
should remember to Praise HIM when we pray.
