Pe 1 Mai , românii sărbătoresc „Armindenul”, simbol al vegetației care
proteja recoltele și animalele. În tradiția populară, acestei zile i se mai spune și „ziua pelinului” sau „ziua bețivilor” și semnifică începutul verii. Armindenul se serbează pentru rodul pământului, ca să nu bată grindina, împotriva dăunătorilor, pentru sănătatea vitelor, vinul bun, oamenii sănătoși, prin petreceri la iarbă verde, unde se mănâncă miel și caș și se bea vin roșu cu pelin.

Armenians celebrate for the fruit of the earth, so as not to beat the hail, against the pests, for the health of the cattle, the good wine, the healthy people, through parties on the green grass, where the lamb and cheese are eaten and the red wine is drank.
