 esign brief
🔎 What?

❗Why?

Develop a design brief, which  You have to make a decision at this point in the project: What will you design and create,
presents the analysis of relevant  for whom and why. You want your decision to be based on sufficient background
research.  research.

⚙ How?
Research results summary
● Present the main results of your research (from A2) in a concise list of bullet points. This must be in your own words!
● Illustrate your take-aways with imagery wherever you feel this reduces the amount of writing needed. However, don’t
add images for the sake of adding images. Cite any images that you use.
● Cite (in-text) from the sources that you found your answers from. Use the proper MLA format.

DEFINITIONS  By consulting sources, I have found out:

● A fabric is a flexible material consisting of a network of natural or artificial fibers,
such as Rayon. Linen. Cashmere. Silk.Wool.
● Textile is a flexible material consisting of a network of natural or artificial fibers
type of textiles: silk. Wool. linen. Nylon.
● Garments: Different type of clothes eg. Business suit, shirt they just Collectivel
garments
● Fast fashion: inexpensive clothes produced rapidly and repensent the clothing
style for that season

MANUFACTURING  ● Cotton is a seed fiber and grows in warm climates.Cotton gins separate the
fibers, called lint, from the seeds. The fibers are sent to a textile mill where carding
machines turn the fibers into cotton yarn. The yarns are woven into cloth that is
comfortable and easy to wash but does wrinkle easily.
● The dominant process in the assembly of garments is sewing. We can using
some mentionable alternative methods of fabric joining: Fusing Welding
Adhesives Molding
● I learn about what's cotton, Cotton fibers are often blended with other fibers such
as nylon, linen, wool, and polyester, to achieve the best properties of each fiber.

TECHNIQUES AND  By consulting sources such as, I have found out the following information that I can use for
TOOLS FOR MAKING  designing and creating my product:
● Cut out a piece of pattern paper and fold it in 1/2 vertically.
● Fold your garment in 1/2 vertically and pin along the seams.
● Lay the item on the paper and pin it in place.
● Remove the item and draw a bold line over the one you traced.
● Draw a seam allowance around the pattern piece.
● Draw a pattern piece for each section of your garment. And Cut out each pattern
pieces

Drafting a Pattern Using Your Measurements

● Thread (polyester and cotton and waxed)

● Eyelets
● Studs
● Rivets
● Snap fasteners
● Velcro (sew-on and stick on)
● Anything you request that is approved by the teacher.
● Fabric glue
● Contact adhesive (Elmer’s multi-purpose spray adhesive)
● Sewing machine (Brother JA1450NT)
● Needles
● Seam ripper
● Fabric shears
● Rotary cutter
● Hole punch
● Rivet/eyelet setter and die
● I learn about what’s the essential tools we should using in the measurements and

CLIENT INFORMATION  By consulting sources such as, I have realized the following considerations should be
taken into account when designing and creating my product:
● For myself
● My favorite color is black
● Some time I like to wear very baggy clothes like oversize
● Sometimes my clothes are particularly fancy

PRACTICAL SKILLS  By completing the practical skills tasks, I have learned the following skills (list & explain):
● I knew how to braid
● I learned how to sew a button
● I learned how to sew a snap
● I learned basic sewing by hand
The skills that will be useful for my project are (list & explain why):
● My handle can braid together so that might be useful
● I bag might need the button and I know I how to sew a button
● I can know hot to sew snap i can put it on my work make my bag looking good
● I have to sew defence pieces to make my bag so if I know this very well that will
be useful
The skills that I still need to practice or want to learn more about are (list & explain):
● I'm not familiar with how to sew by hand
● My sew button takes a long time
● My sew snaps takes a long time
● I have to take a closer look at the braids and it takes a long time to check

Project commitment
● State what type of product you are going to develop in your project in this unit and outline the direct practical purpose
of this product.
● Outline the bigger picture purpose of the product.
● Describe the client or target audience for whom you will develop the product.

Product and Purpose   In this project, I will create tote bag

The purpose of my product is...I hope I can create a particularly practical bag that can be
used for a long time and the fabric of the bag can be recycled

Design Goal  My product will address the design problem of -textiles being quickly sent to landfills- by…
Because my products have good fabrics, people will not lose them quickly. In order to tell
others that textures being quickly sent to landfills will affect the environment, my bag can
have some pictures or words of such bad consequences to express the protection of the
environment.

Intended   My product is intended to be used by everyone , if you interesting design or the bag just
Target audience  get it.

Target audience representative  I would describe my client as…

My self
Their needs and wants for the product are
My demand for the product is first of all the style of the bag. The style should be the same
as the trend of the season. It must have good quality and be suitable for all kinds of
people. And this bag is recyclable. If you throw this bag, this material can be recycled.
