Figure

RT = ((R1 + R2)//R3) + (R4 + R5)

= ((7 + 20)//10) + (12 + 15)
= (27//10) + 27

= ( 2727+×1010 ) + 27
= 34.30Ω

10
IT =
34.30

= 0.29A = Ia’

By using current divider method,

27
Ic’ = ( 27+10 )× I T

= 0.73 ×0.29
= 0.211A
10
Ib’ = ( 27+10 )× I T

= 0.27 × 0.29
= 0.078A
Step 3: 12V ON but 10V OFF

RT = ((R1 + R2)//R3) + (R4 + R5)
= ((7 + 20)//10) + (12 + 15)
= (27//10) + 27

= ( 2727+×1010 ) + 27
= 34.30Ω

12
IT =
34.30

= 0.35A = Ib”

By using current divider method,

27
Ic” = ( 27+10 )× I T

= 0.73 ×0.35
= 0.256A

10
Ia” = ( 27+10 )× I T

= 0.27 × 0.35
= 0.095A
Step 4: Superimposing the related currents
From step 1, Ic
From step 2, Ic’
From step 3, Ic”

The same direction is positive,

Ic’ = Ic’ + Ic”
= 0.211 + 0.256
= 0.467A
