Introduction

1-1 Regarding This Document


This document includes the procedure for installing and uninstalling a PEMaster shortcut
icon for the “Apeos PEMaster 1.7”, the internal control system in your company.

2. Flow chart of installation

Check the Java version and delete the Internet Explorer cache. (Procedure on p.5 to p.10)

If the client PC already has a PEMaster shortcut icon, click the existing PEMaster shortcut
icon.
If there is no icon, follow the procedure on p.14 to
access http://itcl2.hoya.local/PEMServer/ and install the PEM client.

When you can connect to the server and When a connection error occurs
the PEM client is automatically installed.
When PEM login screen started

Complete ① Follow the procedure on p.11 to uninstall the existing PEM client.
② Follow the procedure on p.14 to
access http://itcl2.hoya.local/PEMServer/ and reinstall the PEM
client.

3. Checking the Java Version and Deleting the Internet Explorer Cache

3-1 Checking the Java Version


1. Click ”Start”, and then Click “Control Panel”.
For Windows XP For Windows7

3. Click the “view” button in the “Java” tab on the Java control screen.

For Windows XP For Windows7

4. Confirm that “Enable” is selected for “1.6” in “Platform”.


*PEMaster can only be started if JRE1.6 is selected.
If only JRE1.5 is installed, it is necessary to access PEMaster after uninstalling
JRE1.5 or save the JRE1.6 installation module to the client PC and install it manually.

3-2 Deleting the Internet Explorer Cache

3-2-1 For Internet Explorer 6.x

1. Click the internet explorer: menu “Tools" > “Internet Options”.

2. Click the “Delete Files” button for “Temporary Internet Files” in the “General” tab of
the Internet Options screen.

3. Select “Delete all offline content” on the Delete Files screen, and click the "OK”
button.

4. Click the “OK” button on the Internet Options screen.

1. Click Internet Explorer: menu :“Tools" > “Internet Options”.

2. Click the “Delete” button in “Browsing History” in the “General” tab on the Internet
Options screen.

3. Select all items of Browsing History screen, except “Preserve Favorites website
data” then select “Delete”.
*Do not select “Preserve Favorites website data".

1. Click ”Start”, and then Click “Control Panel”.

2. Click “Java”.
*Note that the screen displays may differ according to the version of Java.

3. Click the “Settings” button of “Temporary Internet Files” in the “Basic” tab for the Java
control screen.
*For Windows 7, click the “View” button and proceed to step 5.

4. Click “View Applications” on the Temporary Files Settings screen.

5. Click the icons to delete on the Java Application Cache Viewer screen.

5.1. Click “Delete Selected Applications”. Click the “X” button to close the screen.

Open the Web browser (Internet Explorer) and access the following URL.
The Apeos PEMaster client is automatically installed.

5. Installing and Uninstalling Java

5-1 Installing Java

5-1-1 Obtaining and Executing the JRE6-update26 Installation Module

1. Contact the support team to get information for the JRE6-update26 installation
module.

2. Double-click the file obtained in step 1.

3. Click the “Install” button to proceed with the installation.


*The installation process may take some time.

4. When the installation successfully completes, click the “Close” button to close the
installer.

5-2 Uninstalling Java


If the version of Java that is installed is not from SUN or unsupported version from SUN,
please delete the JSE Running Environment with “Add/Remove Programs”.
*If the version of Java to be deleted is being used by an application other than PEMaster,
contact the IT department in advance to confirm whether Java can be installed or
uninstalled.

1. Select “Add/Remove Programs” from the control panel.

2. On the “Add/Remove Programs” screen, select “J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0


Update 15” (Java) or “IBM Java”, and click “Delete”.

3. Close the “Add/Remove Programs” screen, and then close the control panel.

6. Installing the Evidence Manager ActiveX Module
The ActiveX module is normally installed via Internet Explorer.
If the ActiveX module is not installed or has been replaced due to an ArcSuite upgrade,
etc., ActiveX can be installed when there is a screen using ActiveX module.

6-1 Installing the ActiveX Module for Automatically Log-In


1. Open the Web browser (Internet Explorer) and access the following URL.

2. If a popup prompting you to install ActiveX is displayed, click it.

3. Execute the installation.

6-2 Installing the ActiveX Module for Dragging and Dropping and Remote
Editing.
1. Open the Web browser (Internet Explorer) and access the following URL. On the
login screen, enter the user ID and password to log in.

2. Click the popup prompting you to install ActiveX on the document list screen.

3. Execute the installation.
